This latest mock draft is perfect. If we do draft Jefferson, Johnson, and Morris this would be out lineup for next season:

    Pg-Francis/Norris
    Sg-Mobley/Jefferson
    Sf-Morris/Bullard/Langhi
    Pf-Webber or Taylor/Thomas
    C-Olajuwon or other/Johnson/Collier

And we should defenitely keep both Jefferson and Morris, since Jefferson in my opinion is more of a Sg than a Sf and we don't have a backup there. He has great size for a Sg. Morris could be a steal or a bust. I remember he was preseason 1st team all american coming into his junior year, But I don't know what has happened to his game.

Jefferson is a shooting guard? I thought he was a forward who can't shoot.

His shot is improving. He has got great elevation on his jumper. He could easily play the 2 and 3, but with Francis likely to be the Rockets backup shooting guard, there's no real point in drafting him to be a shooting guard.

Jefferson has a decent jumpshot, not great. It's kind of like Carter's when he first came into the league. Carter worked on his so much, that now he is on of the best 3 point shooters in the league. Let's see what Jefferson can do with his

I don't think Jefferson's purpose on the team is to score. We would use him to play good D while Mobley is on the bench. Don't you think that with Francis playing backup shooting guard that would be a little too much pressure on him. He would be playing over 40 minutes every game. It would be better in the long run to get a real backup shooting guard.

Ricky812, I agree with you that Jefferson would be a good addition to the team.He can guard big 2's and play at the 2 and 3 spot, his outside shot is improving along with his good defence,he also has a nice upside. He is improving his dribbling and is a hard worker who plays with a lot of confidence.Joe Johnson is a small forward who likes to play as a guard,he has good ball handling skills who can create his own shot and is a pretty good defender who needs to get physically stronger and most importantly get more aggressive on the offensive end and look to score more often than he does,if he can do that than we don't need Morris on our team. However the chances of Joe Johnson being available with the 13th pick is low.The third player we should look up to pick is Ken Johnson who can block shots and rebound. He needs to get much stronger and keep on improving his offensive game.

Whenever RJ shoots, he has such long hang time his defender has already elevated and fallen back on the court. [IMG]

Being 6'7" and having leaping ability does not qualify someone as a #13 pick. Pick 13 should address immediate needs (a depth chart of Cato & Collier, current lack of rebounding from our 5's & 4's). I have no major problem with RJ, just not at 13. Unless you are drop-dead certain he is a "Kobe-killer", RJ at 13 is based too much on potential and not enough on delivery in '01.

Gater you hit the nail right on the head with your comment. I would like to see the rockets spend the 13th pick on a 4 or 5 position which is their weakest.

Why don't we pick up FA Jim Jackson to replace Shanon and have him start having
Mobley providing instant offense off the bench.Jackson has a NICE shot and Mobley gets his SIXTH MAN,finaly.Draft RJ at 13
    K. Johnson/Haywood at 18, Samuel Dalembert
or Lee Scruggs at 23.the're all 7 footers
and Scruggs is another T. Chandler with
ACC experience. He would present some killer
    matchup problems.
    ROCKETS LINE UP
    1.FRANCIS/NOORIS
    2.JACKSON/MOBLEY
    3.JEFFERSON/SCRUGGS/WILLIAMS
    4.WEBBER OR TAYLOR/THOMAS/LANGHI
    5.DREAM OR ?/JOHNSON/CATO/COLLIER

    NOT BAD

GATER, there are no stud PF's or C's that are going to be available at the 13th spot, so I say we take the player with the most upside which could be Jefferson. If we don't get Webber, we're not going to be contending for another couple years, so we can wait. Now if we trade up into, say the top 5, then I say go for a PF or C, but we will have to wait for that player to develop as well, so either way we will have to wait. Unless you want a future role player like Michael Bradley or Troy Murhpy at 13....
