Only 7 NBA players with 20+ seasons:

    Carter 1998-2020
Robert Parish 1976-1997 (I saw him play in college)
    Kevin Willis 1984-2004 & 2007
    Kevin Garnett 1995-2015
Dirk 1998-2019 (Maybe had a shot... nah.)
Kareem 1969-1989 (The next nearest to 4 decades)
Kobe 1996-2016 (First and only guard to hit 20)

Of the group at 19 seasons, Jason Terry is the only one who started in a 9 year (1999).
Other 19ers: Moses, Shaq, James Edwards, Stockton & Malone, Oakley, Duncan, Kidd, Juwan Howard, Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce, and Tyson Chandler.

Parish still leads in games played and is the only guy above 1,600. He's followed by Kareem, Dirk, Vince, and Stockton who are the only ones over 1,500.

Gotta respect a guy who's confident enough to make such self-deprecating jokes. Dude embraced it. Good on him.

kind of sad that such a talent never won an NBA title, but still one of the greatest to ever play the game

If VC made a special guest appearance at the dunk contest and threw down one quality slam it would be the greatest thing ever.

Half Man, Half Amazing, All Innovation

    ...

A lack of star power and creativity effectively killed the dunk contest during the 1990s. Carter, however, was an ascendant star who attacked the rim the way Basquiat did a canvas. His dunks were bold, inventive, and polarizing. He has now played in four different decades, and many of his classic dunks remain as ingenious today as they were when he first pulled them off 20 years ago. Even today, it is the image of Carter, elbow deep in the rim, that looms over the competition in this millennium.

For this reason—whether it’s with a brief video played in the United Center before the contest or maybe a full segment as part of TNT’s coverage—Carter deserves a formal tribute. As he bids adieu to the league he’s given his best for over half his life, we should recognize him for hoisting the dunk contest from its grave and into the modern era.

Would have had a ring if his own blood didn't block that trade in 2009

he was so fun to watch early in his career. What a great scene last night though. He’s older than Kobe. Hard to believe. What a great career and well liked guy.

Vince Carter's Dunk Contest happened before Zion was born. That's crazy to think about.
