(I'm very sorry for this insipid thread, but I know some people around here will be interested.)

I recently visited some family in the deep piney woods of Northeast Texas. Though I didn't get a chance to visit Houston, I did fly in and out of intercontinental airport.*

So Mrs. B-Bob and I are waiting to board our San Francisco flight yesterday (circa 2 p.m.) in terminal C, when I notice these two very tall people sitting directly behind us. They were Yao's parents (confirmed by Mrs. B-Bob after we've seen them on TV at Yao's games, and I just looked them up on google). It was definitely them, and they were accompanied by another, younger couple, possibly also Chinese. The four of them spoke quietly in Chinese (sorry I don't know Mandarin from Greek), and I didn't want to interrupt them as the "oh golly, I sure like yer son he's awesome! will ya write a big ole chinese character on mah forehead? thanks!" type of fan.

The best moment arrived when they got up to board the flight to Las Vegas. Yes! I had been hoping they would board the flight to San Francisco, that I would get to sit next to them, and communicate with them very poorly about sharing my little anhydrous pretzels with them or some such.

Oh well. Sorry no photos. I assume his parents (and maybe the other friends/ family) were in Houston for the long home-stand.

Anyone know anything about his parents? I recall reading that his mother was quite a basketball star for the women's olympic team, no? I had also thought that Yao's mother was staying with him in Houston, but perhaps that was just for his rookie year. Perhaps this thread could be salvaged in an all-about-Yao's-parents sort of way.

    * that's Bush intercontinental, IAH. Not London Heathrow.

Well, well well, B-Bob runs from me but he can't hide.

I will ask you again, kind sir, in this "useless" thread of yours, if what you allege is indeed true, then how do you explain this picture?

Answer carefully, the stakes are high.

You liberals hope to pin me down by taking my past basketball mascot uniforms and presenting them out of context, but the Houston Rockets' fans will, on the whole, see past your rhetoric of cultural elitism.

I simply do not have to explain that photo, SamFisher. How dare you even bring it up in this forum. Typical attack fandom technique. Let me ask you, sir: how is that photo relevant to Yao Ming's parents flying to Las Vegas?

Hmmm, yes, I'll take stock footage backwoods ostrich-head-in-sand behaviour (that's the british spelling, Y-yokel, more on that in a second) from the Fan Fengdi bobbleheads for $1000, Alex.

Your attempts to tangentialize your very own thread notwithstanding, I'll make it blunt so that you can figure it out: How were you in the "deep piney woods of Northeast Texas" when irrefutable photographic evidence places you hurtling along the highway (at excessive and illegal speed, no doubt) in some some sort of meadow or grassland? Even more telling, as you appear to be driving "Leftenant style", and by that I mean that the location of the steering wheel clearly places you in a locale such as Great Britain, Hong Kong, or Australia.

Indeed, B-Bob, were the Yao Paterfamilas transferring to Vegas from Houston via Heathrow? If that's true, then I guess Pandas can drive....

Guess you don't have a snappy comeback for that one, or do you?

This thread beats the hell outta the 147 "trade steve francis" threads, or the 876 "propsed trade" threads that pop up every day.

Actually, its scoops like these that make the BBS the place to be.

    SamFisher,

It is obvious what you are really saying between the lines. Admit it! I am offended by your blatant insinuation that I wore the panda costume as some sort of comment on the Mings' heritage. Nothing could be further from the truth! I proudly wore that for the Pandas... true, a speical olympics T-ball team that did not request my services as a mascot... but proudly, even so. And the team really rallied to me after their parents broke five of my ribs in that mass beating they gave me (born of a tragic misunderstanding).

At any rate, that photo was taken weeks (weeks!) ago. Gentle readers, do not let this cretin derail the thread. Focus! Yao Ming's parents flew to Las Vegas yesterday.

Too bad my ignore list is full.

BTW, you're not a racist. But you definitely like to mock pandas and law enforcement.

Guess those brave bobbies only mean something to you when you need to get political mileage out of it, huh???

Well, thanks, birat. That does explain his behavior a little, and I always try to forgive when I can.

But it's pretty rude of him to post that photo of me! (I shared that with him last week when we were still friends and hanging out in a chat room for furries.) Anyway, not only did he post that here for everyone to see it, but then he reversed the image in photo-shop and then claimed I was driving in England or something! Anyway, I'll try to just forgive him. Your right about that Francis angle, and he's probably mad about what went down at the furries chat room.

PS -- I am really upset about yet another private photo. Please, everyone, take my advice and learn from my sad case. Never share photos with people you think are your friend on the internet. :(

Look, Sam, you're going to have to get over it. You took what I said about your koala costume all wrong, okay? I was just a little drunk, and you know, that was a cool costume, okay? There, I said it: your koala costume looked good, one of the best costumes at the convention. What I said about the little tail and the zipper placement was just not fair, and I apologize for saying that in front of the leopard.

Can we just bury this now? It's pretty embarrassing, and you're really causing me a lot of pain. :(

How many freakin times am I going to have to do this for you? for the LAST TIME it was a FREAKING WOMBAT COSTUME !!!!

Yes, they are both marsupials. No, they are not the same species. How would you like it if I called YOU a Malayan Sun Bear? Not so cool now, huh?

And let me just say, that wasn't all you said. The phrases "transsexual Capybara" and "pre-Atkins Nutria" were thrown about by you as well, but I guess you were too drunk to remember those ones....

I can't believe it, really, you pretend to apologize, and here you go saying the exact same thing that p-ssed me off in the first place.

    Typical b-bob.

I'm off now to go hang out with my real friends. Maybe I'll call you....never.

OMG. First we speculate on what Yao's american name could be and now this. Amazing what a three day layoff will do to people. Keep up the good work everybody. ;)

there is really no need to attack liberals.

their behavior (read, SamFisher's behavior) is a good indication of how low 'liberals' these days have gone.

oh well. wrong thread. but it's Sam who brought up this topic himjself so no harm!

    That's a good point. I apologize.

I was just angry at the time, but I think Sam has shown his true colors now for everybody. Like being so picky about Wombat versus Koala! Whatever. Like either animal would justify having an ass zipper in your costume.
