I really like his potential. I remember he was a little sad at how badly everyone wanted Mo Taylor, and when they got him because he had worked so hard on his game in the off season, and really felt like he was ready to contribute. I think getting Mo, was great, but I still have to love Thomas' attitude of working hard. Watching him, it's plain that he does have a lot of different post up moves, and does need the opportunity to put them to real use in games. He had the moves a lot but often didn't finish. I think that will come with time. I think if he can become a real defensive stopper and gets the chance for more Playing time, he will be a decent player for the Rockets. He may never be a star, but I think the guy can really contribute, if he's allowed to develop. ------------------
I like Kenny Thomas alot and I think he would be good 10ppg 8rpg player if he were to start but I still think Taylor is better ------------------
I think KT is a good PF. I would like to see him start and pickup Dikembe. Lets trade for SAR and get DM. ------------------ "Chucky who? I thought we were talking about basketball?" Charles Barkley
I think Kenny took a step backwards statistically because as a rookie he just put the ball up from everywhere and played with abandon. This year he went to school and has improved greatly though it has yet to show statistically. Taylor may be a better scorer now, but I think Thomas has worked hard at being the PF Rudy wants him to be. Thomas may now be a better fit at the PF position. ------------------
If he could start to finish, he could easily be a 15 ppg, 9 rpg player. He's got the desire and the skill to be a passable PF for this team. ------------------ www.swirve.com "Pre-born, you're fine, pre-school, you're f*****."-George Carlin
*cough* Nice Bench Player , never will do anything as a starter. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
If KT ever averages 15 and 9 for this team, I guarantee you we'll have a losing record. Man, I wonder how many shots it would take KT to get 15 a night, considering he shoots a horrible percentage for a PF. I like the guy as a backup, especially because he is at least a semi decent threat from beyond the arc, and because he's a very good rebounder for his size, but starting power forward he is not. And if he is that for any long stretch of time, we are going to be in trouble. ------------------ Lisa, I'd like to buy your rock...
Nobody was hurt more by Charles Barkley's season ending injury than KT. Even though they played together for a year, he could have learned alot more from the Chuckster about how to finish around the rim at 6-7. If he were two inches taller he could be our starting power forward. I think he had too many moves when he came into the league and tried to do them all at once. As this season wound down he seemed to be using superior foot speed more to beat bigger players to the rim. He too often settles for the three pointer instead of taking it to the hole and rooting around under the basket but again I think that has alot to do with his lack of size. All he needs is a good up and under move and a half decent fade away jumper and he'll be good to go. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Glyde22 (edited June 01, 2001).]
Francis3 - Those are my exact thoughts. He is good comimg off the bench for a few minutes but let's remember that he is only 6'7" in a league with a lot of versatile forwards. He's too short to be a 4 and too slow to be a 3. He is a valuable contributor off the bench and let's keep it that way. ------------------ President of the (the Rockets first pick in the draft) fan club.
He should come off the bench, but needs more minutes off the bench in order to improve enough. I don't remember who said it, but I agree that he had too many moves and tried to do them all at once, but that's the exact reason why he needs more PT, even if it is off the bench. He worked hard to develop those moves, and continues to work hard. He has a good attitude, and I think with practice he will learn how to finish. That's his one big weakness I think. But I think that will come with time. Sure he's not the answer as a starter, but I love his heart, and I hope he gets more minutes as off the bench. ------------------
