My mom died from that last year.

They say there is an 85% cure rate, but that means that 15% don't make it.

    Luekemia sucks !!

    :(

I'm sorry 2 hear about your great loss, DD! My prayers are out with you & yer family! I'm a registered nurse & I kinda understand that death, untimely or not, can wreck havoc to family & friends! I see the families' eyes & it's really sad & unnerving !

Tragic to hear about the death.....

Nice of Yao to donate the money, I'm impressed that he tried to call too. Some people just donate the money and that's it.. that is a very generous act, but it's also nice when the players will spend some of their time to call or visit because it means a lot to the people.

Wang Zhizhi has actually represented China in more international games than Yao. Wang helped China win Asian championship, Asian Games, and both world championship and Olympic 8th place, the latter two of which Yao has achieved so for. in other words, Wang has contributed more to China basketball than Yao, imo. Wang also helped with China's campaign to host 08 Olympic. Yao's a class act. but no need to diss Wang while praising Yao.

Now, he isn't playing for an NBA team OR the National team. he really put himself in a bad position.

Wow I am VERY impressed with Yao Ming. He has a good heart. As a Leukemia survivor (T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia) i know first hand that the treatment gets to be finacially constraining. Yes it is very unfortunate that the child passed away. My condolences go to his family, and my appreciation goes out to Yao Ming for his selflessness by attempting to give the child a chance to recover from his illness.

And DaDakota my condolenses go out to you as well....I am very sorry to hear that.

yeah it does suck. My 45 year old uncle had it last year. By all accounts he should have been dead. Amazingly he pulled through

he did. so did Kobe, Shaq, and Divac. just to name a few. i don't endorse such action. but Wang is still a decent human being in my book. i just feel there's no need to make him look bad by comparing him to Yao. he has already received more criticisms than deserved. some people need to get over it and move on.

    DD,

Sorry to hear that. My prayers are with you and your family.

People, stop debating about Wang and Yao, at least not here. Other families are emotionally suffering here, show some respect please.

I reported this good deed months ago when people were talking how stingy Yao was.

But still glad to see it in a separate thread.:)

I have never got the impression that Yao was stingy. Where in the world would someone get that idea?
