MTV Edits Fountains of Wayne Video
Thursday March 18 11:23 AM ET

Fountains of Wayne are the latest victims of MTV's super-sensitivity following the infamous Super Bowl halftime show.

Fountains of Wayne made a video for the song "Mexican Wine" that originally showed twin ten-year-old girls jumping up and down saying they were going to perform "'Mexican Wine' by Fountains of Wayne!"

The new version doesn't have the girls saying that, and while they do lip-synch the song, at no point does it show them lip-synching the words "Mexican Wine." A source tells the New York Post that MTV wouldn't show the video because the girls were saying the word "wine."

    Good song.

I wonder if they lip-synched this part:

"I used to fly for United Airlines
Then I got fired for reading High Times"

I now can't stand Janet Jackson. She personally handed the FCC the keys to the car.

That might be the stupidest thing I have ever heard, that's really embarrassing.

Speaking of the Jackson incident, did anybody watch the new episode of South Park last night? OMG, Trey Parker and Matt Stone are most truthful, genius writers out there.

I could not stop laughing at the starkers Cartman "sneaking" across the stage as if he couldn't be seen.

south park is the best show on t.v.
does anyone know if the howard stern show got cancelled because they keep showing reruns. if so, was it because of the janet incident?

For any Phil Hendrie fans out there, they are now bleeping out part of Ted Bell's theme song. It's the part where she says "we want to put our meat in your mouth". They bleep out 'meat'.

It just got worse this morning...

My Friday at 7am ritual is to listen to GT's "Back to the old school" mix on 97.9 the bizzox where they "can't stop; won't stop" Anyways, I'm pumping along at the gym when the first song is Notorious B.I.G.'s "Juicy"... my all time fave Biggie song...

So I'm boppin' along, and suddenly two lyrics are "beeped" out... two lyrics that have NEVER been beeped out before.

    The first one was:

Now I’m in the limelight ’cause I rhyme tight
Time to get paid, blow up like the world trade

where the part in bold was beeped out. I understand being sensitive, but this song was written nearly 8 years before the incident. Give me a break!

The second censored lyric was even more stupid:

Lunches, brunches, interviews by the pool
Considered a fool ’cause I dropped out of high school

where, once again, the part in bold was beeped out!

Are you freaking kidding me? You can't reference dropping out of school without being subjected to censorship now? What next? The FCC is really getting out of hand and this is utterly ridiculous.

Maroon 5 - "This Love". Used to be a great video. Lead singer's girlfriend is in it and it's nice to see an actual woman that's sexy show off. Now, the entire damn thing is covered with "flower pedals" flying all over the place. Ugh.

Honestly, I don't get what the deal is with our country.

I would rather my kids see boobs and get desensitized to boobs rather than them see gunfights or heads getting chopped off by swords and axes and getting desensitized to violence (and bad movies).

i agree with ya. although, i heard "juicy" on the radio in austin this morning and no part of it was bleeped out. maybe it was just that particular radio station?

it was on 93.3 by the way. (which i never listen to, but i was bored in traffic and kind of flipping through stations)

Calm down, everyone. Soon Eminem will put out another album that will contain tons of cursing and the like and it will be ridiculously popular and by a white man, so the FCC will ease up again just like they did last time.

Right now they're just over-correcting to get the heat off of them over the stupid Super Bowl debacle. That saggy tit sure wasn't worth all this.
