Rockets trade Clint Capela + 1st round pick for Robert Covington, Jordan Bell, 2nd round pick and luxury tax savings.

    Do you like the trade?

Liked it until it was obvious that Tilman had his hand in it.

    Covington will be good, tho.

for the sake of the rockets getting better now, I love it. rockets now have an all nba defender on the wing next to PJ.

2 open roster spots left. lets see if hou can make some more noise and continue to raise that ceiling

Might turn into an even bigger deal, incomplete at this moment.

It will only be a good trade if this means Hartenstein will be our starting Center. If spacing is the issue them Hartenstein has always been a decent shooter DANTONI just gotta show he trusts this guy

Trying to figure out who our rim protector is and how we will defend the Lakers and Bucks?

    No.

I like Robert Covington, and he should be great for our team. But even disregarding that we were somehow the ones paying a first despite contributing the best player in the deal (which really tips it for me), I am against the notion that PJ Tucker can be the starting center of a title team and this trade is a wholehearted embrace of that philosophy and a complete torching of our options to match up with Western conference bigs.

I should note that I don't subscribe to the "time for Hartenstein to shine" theory. He is an average backup at best.

If we didn't shell out yet another first to dump salary I would have liked it. Capela should have been good enough for a straight up swap with Bob.

If this is the only move Morey makes, then no.

If there's another splash incoming, then yes.

If we end up with a center that can space the floor, add some rebounds and average defense, then it will be success (A+ trade deadline).

Right now, I'd say it's a B- trade, we get better but we gave up a little to much for the return.

Every time the Rockets do something questionable, it’s always Tilman or MDA’s fault. But things go well, Morey takes all the credit.

People literally b****ing about losing a player we went 10-1 without while adding a player they've been BEGGING for for years.

    You can't please Clutchfans.

the rockets literally just added an all nba defensive 1st team wing player w/ a 7'2 wingspan, while losing a limited pnr center. This coming from someone who didn't like the idea of trading CC in the first place.

the outrage is pretty funny and sad at the same time

I'm hesitant to respond until I see what Houston does with the extra $12 M they have available now.

Traded away a first for a worse player so the billionaire owner could save money.

    It’s a great deal.

Considering how our last 2 starting centers preformed after they left the Rockets, this is probably the best deal in Morey’s career.

In terms of fit, yes. In terms of value, no. Sending out the 2020 first without any protections makes no sense to me in terms of value, as RoCo and Clint seem like similar players talent-wise both on somewhat similar, reasonable contracts. I'm hoping there will be another piece added here to even that value out just a bit, and I do think this will make the team better in the long run. But the Rockets definitely sent out more than they got back at this point.
