    I think the lawyer quoted in this previous page of this thread is correct.
    It also sends a message to everyone who would even dare to stand up to this President or his cronies, no matter what he does next.
    "You didn't stop him, and now we're going to ruin the whistleblower's life. Get it? Just keep your mouths shut if you know what's good for ya."

    Basically, Rand Paul is standing up in front of America and acting like Arthur Shelby of the Peaky Blinders.

    (I only hate the analogy because I like the Peaky Blinders gang a lot more than I like Trump and his henchmen.)

    But yeah, lots of people are totally okay with this. I find that... disturbing, but typical of human history.
