Just to clarify, somebody is confusing direct democracy with representative democracy. Just becasue we have the universal franchise doesn't make us a direct democracy. Perhaps you should dust off your poli sci notes. Second, as for your proposed ban on government assistance voting, does this include people who work for companies that subsist on government spending, such as Defense contractors & Construction companies like Bechtel & Halliburton? Aren't they as liable to have their votes bought than anybody else?
Would this include public schools, state universities, interstate commuters, people drawing social security or medicare, the military and other Federal workers, state and local govt employees, Pell grants, companies that get tax breaks, people who work at TV and radio companies, military contractors, etc. ? Bama, the 17th Century is calling.... they want their ideas back.
I should clarify. That would be anyone receiving: -WIC -EBT/Foodstamps -Mediscare -Medicaid -HUD housing money These parasites can not utilize their skills to get these essentials on their own. Instead, they rely on politicians to deliver their filthy stolen lucre out of my hard-earned dollars. By disallowing them the vote, we end this practice. Guess what, cut off the benefits and these people have to........find jobs! What a concept. And if hard work and self-reliance are 17th century values while laziness and dependency are 21st century values, I'm all about the 17th century.
Rumor is that Stan Kasten may jump into the Georgia Senate race and that his numbers are pretty good. Kasten is the guy who's a general manager for the Braves, the Thrashers, and the Hawks. If he gets in, he'll probably need to keep that whole Hawks thing under wraps.
