Well Since Robert Horry wants to go back to houston and be with his ill Child, and since Anderson is Leaving, What do you guys think of this trade Horry/3 mill trade Excemption for Anderson/22nd pick You can then use the 3 mill Trade excemption to help sign Webber. It seems like the best move for both teams. I'd really hate to give up Horry, But us Laker fans know that we can't keep him here against his will, he wants to be with his sick Child in houston. ------------------

That will took away 4~5 Mil of the Rockets' cap space to Sign Shandon(the contract he's looking for.) I don't think that will "help sign Webber" I was a fan of the MJ's Bulls. I know Jackson's system. Shandon will be a perfect fit for the Lakers. i'd take that deal. horry provides outside shooting plus the ability to fill at 3 and 4. plus, we don't necessarily NEED the 22nd pick if we have 2 more picks in the 1st round. walt gives la a pure shooter - the one thing that they lack, right now. if it doesn't negatively impact our cap efforts with c-webb, i wouldn't think twice about it. as for shandn for horry, i couldn't make that deal fast enough!
Way back when, I was sorry to see Horry included in the deal for Barkley. Heck, I was sorry to see Cassell included, and I still think the trade hurt the Rockets. That said, I can't see "spending" too much (in the way of draft choices or players or cap money) to get him back. He's 32 or 33 now, has bad knees -- in short, he's not the Horry of the mid-90s. Regretably, we have to look to the future and forget about being nostalgic. ------------------
THIS is no nostalgia... robert horry allowed la to single cover tim duncan. for as much as this bbs rides tim duncan's jock, no one has made mention of this fact. horry thoroughly flustered tim by pushing his away from his favorite 45 degree low block spot. his length bothered him just enough that tim had to use some arc on his shot. kobe and shaq did exactly what i - and everyone else - expected of them. robert horry & d-fish were co-mvp's of that series. if we have a chance to get robert horry, you do it - especially at the expense of a walt williams &/or shandn andersn.

The only way I think we should give up pick #22 is if we land the 18th pick. We need at least 2 picks in the 1st round either to fill needs at SF and C or trade up and get a higher impact player at one of those positions. Shandon for Horry is a good deal, but as Hard Rock said, it takes away from our cap space. I would trade Cato for any player or towel boy in the league, but the problem is nobody wants him. We should be careful trading Walt, b/c his contract runs out at seasons end and we could use that cap space for signing future FAs and re-signing Steve. ------------------ Now saw off...there's nothing to see here.

LAKESHOW2G Horry is under contract so I don't see how the Lakers could lose him for "nothing". They would have to trade him. Also, I am no capologits but, can you trade your exceptions? I thought a team either qualified for them or they didn't. I did not know you could use someone else's exception. ------------------
Rockets can't use a trade exception because they'll be below the cap. The Rocks won't do any sort of sign and trade with Anderson unless Webber is already signed somewhere. Trading Walt for Horry doesn't make much sense because it would just extend the length of the contract of our deadweight SF. Trading Cato for Horry, however, would be great. Lakeshow, have you heard anything about the Lakers angling for the 22nd pick? This type of a move would make a whole lot of sense for both sides. Ive been saying all along that the only way for Horry to remain at his current salary and the Rockets not to jeopardize their cap position is through a sign and trade. Whats in it for the Lakers besides just getting back Walt? How about the 22nd pick as well which they could take a flyer on a young player. The Rockets dont really need 2 or 3 picks in this draft. Pick 13 will suffice, then they can retain as much cap room as possible. Robert Horry would be an ideal stop gap at the SF position until Langhi is ready to be a full time starter. The main area Horry would help this team in is against the big combo forwards that did major damage against this ballclub last season ie. Nowitzki, Jamison, Garnett, Rahim, Marshall, Marion, Odom etc. I strongly feel that the NBA is moving towards these types of forwards that are big and versatile, and a player like Horry who is a tall, athletic defender is essential to match up against them esp in the West. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net

Technically yes, but if Horry wants somewhere close to the 5 mil he currently earns, then there would not be enough cap room left over to sign Chris Webber. This is why it doesnt make sense to sign and trade Anderson, only trade Williams and/or Cato. The whole issue at hand is that the Lakers dont have to sign and trade Horry after he opts out, they can simply let him walk. In order to facilitate this transaction, the Rockets will have to make it worthwhile for the Lakers thus the 22nd pick comes in. There are only a handful of ways the Rockets can fit both Webber and Horry under the cap: 1. Lakers sign and trade Horry for Williams or Cato 2. Rockets unload Williams or Cato to some team for nothing that has cap space to eat their salaries 3. Sacramento takes Williams and/or Cato in a sign and trade for Webber (highly unlikely) 4.
