Before last night's loss, we were surely contending for this year's NBA championship. We were going to rout the Twolves in the first round, beat the Lakers in the second round and edge the Spurs in the Western Final. Our guards were becoming the perfect JVG system players, while JVG himself is a divine gift to the organization. JJ was the instrumental senior leader on the team who always came up huge in clutch moments. SF was the nicest player ever wearing a Rocket uniform. The message board on CF.net was our preview of the post-life paradise in which people live in love, peace and harmony. Grass was always green and sky always blue... At least according to my observation of this board, that's what most of the posts thought. Now, we lost a game by 2 points in over-time, here is my impression: We will never contend in the West due to the existence of our guards. SF and CM playing for JVG and with Yao Ming is the greatest irony/paradox in human history. JVG is never going to take us anywhere either, because he makes mistakes all the time. "JJ is dumb!"(according to someone's wife). SF is the stupid and selfish thug that represents everything wrong in the NBA. The message board is a cursed and forsaken island covered with insanity, profanity and filth. The world is doomed and there is absolutely no light in sight and no hope in mind. Everything is lost and over...
I think the Rockets played a good game last night. Of course there were some mistakes, but this doesnt change my thoughts on their progress so far. You cant win them all....
Yes, it's nothing but observations blended with some dramatization, while not trying to make any points or express any opinions.
Everybody has bad games sometimes. If you're a contending team, you get past over it. It's not this loss that's going to answer the question. We need to wait until Friday's game against the Warriors. It's got the same markings of a let down game that yesterday's loss did. Can the Rockets get up for it and put their opponent down? As for SF3 and Mobley, they've had some pretty great games during this win streak, so I wouldn't give up on them yet. I'm only judging them from the All-Star break on. It's only recently that Yao's become enough of a dominant force for us to preview whether this mix of players can work. (Anything before Yao's emergence isn't a fair indicator.) So far, I think it can succeed.
Yes, the sky is falling. We are heading for the lottery again. According to some fans here, instead of looking ahead and trying to win the remaining games, we should trade Steve, we should trade Cat, we should trade Cato, and we should make Yao apologize to everyone on the team because he got dunked on.
They are two levels of frustration. The first level is frustrated at Rockets. The second level is frustrated at people who are frustrated at Rockets. I am now going to the third level now.
i dont think we were contending this year anways. One reason out of many of why we are not contending is 1. We have a center playing PF., etc.
So I guess the Nuggs and Cavs are championship contenders this year as well. I want some kool-aid too.
You can mock Dealeck all you want, but he summarized what goes on around here perfectly. now someone will use my phrase against me, telling me to stop posting as if it were clever.
3 stupid turnovers in a row, and you simply call that some mistakes? that's a serious mistake my friend. we'll see how they play this Friday. they need to pay us fans with a good game.
Of course we are going to be contending... for a 2nd round booth at least. Personally I think it was a good wake-up call losing to the Suns - if we were not on our guard, concentrated and played smartly every minute of every game, we can lose to any team in the NBA. JVG will now wake up and address the problems before the playoffs. The players will stop being cocky and take every single game/shootaround/practise seriously. I recall reading about a less-than-perfect shootaround before the Suns game but JVG was "happy" - on Chron.com). All in all, not bad to have this happened before playoffs. SS999
Cool. Actually, I don't see the point of making this criticism -- if there is indeed any point in posting anything in this forum. The GARM is like a big mob -- it has a life that is separate from its constituent parts. It swings one way after a win and the other after a loss. Does that mean the majority of individual posters are also this volatile? No. Complainers are emboldened by losses and optimists are emboldened by wins (with a couple posters, inevitably, swinging because they are just as volatile as the mob). Moreover, complainers are repressed after wins ("Why can't you be happy? We won!"), and optimists are repressed after losses ("How can you think this team can go anywhere when Francis just had more turnovers than assists?"). But, the reader, for the most part, feels the tenor of the whole board at once instead of a multitude of individuals. And, that tenor changes with the volume at which each party speaks -- with the volume being fairly dictated by recent events. So, what's the point of admonishing individual posters for the behavior of the mob? But then, I suppose this too is a symptom of the mob since these complaints also seem to be an inevitability.
