Why would you want to inconvenience your friends like that? Everyone knows that the Bin Ladens were heavy investors in W's first failed oil bidniss. What I want to know is when is the SEC going to own up to who bought all those put options on airline stocks in the days leading up to 9/11. Were middle eastern investors, Saudis, perhaps, responsible for the unusually high activity? If so, I think we'd all find that reassuring. Or was it Frank Carlucci and friends? Buzzy Krongard would know.
I apologize for being snarky. There are documented business connections between the Bush and Bin Laden familes. That's not to say that there is anything sinister about this relationship. It does seem that the Bin Ladens at least have received special treatment vis a vis FBI investigations. The point I was making is that if there had been a similar (even if innocent) relationship between any Clinton (even Roger) and any Bin Laden, the outrage from the right would have been deafening.
