He would complement Francis and Mobley very well. 6'10'...can shoot the three and plays better-than-average defense. Quick off the dribble and is quite a slasher for a guy his size. He is not a liability at the FT line and he seems to play best when it counts (crunch time, playoffs). Not to mention, he can play both forward positions. He signed a 6-year, $68 million dollar contract before the season began. He has to come off the bench in Milwaukee because Robinson starts. Cassell is the next Buck due the big money and I am beginning to wonder how Milwaukee is going to pay him big bucks when that type of money is already committed to three players on the team (Allen, Thomas, Robinson). I would have to assume that one of the four will not be back next season, but who will it be? Is Thomas worth the money he is due? Do the Rockets have anything in value to trade or would a third team have to be involved for a deal to be consummated?

    Thoughts?

Cassel will not be back. Trade for Payton. Thomas may be included.

Tim Thomas would be a great fit on Houston. Hes young, athletic, versatile, etc., etc. From what I saw of the Bucks-Magic series he was the only Milwaukee player that could slow McGrady down.

This may be the same hype like last year about Croshere. It is just Tim Thomas lucky year. He can't handle the West.

Dogbelly, what makes you think Cassell won't be back?

My general impression is that he is the consumate soft underachever. I.E. A guy with great skills who only likes to stand on the peremeter and jack the threes. I think that if we get a scorer he should be a post-up player, otherwise we need tough guys.

Payton wants out of Seattle and Seattle will most likely oblige him. George Karl loves Payton. It seemed odd that earlier in the play-offs Karl was criticizing Cassel for various things after games they won! Just seemed like he was paving the way for a trade down the road.

How about we pick up Cassell as the PG and move Franchise to SG with CAT coming off the bench (he should care too much, he has already gotten his big payday and would still get starters minutes). No one could stop our backcourt, first or second unit. Then add C-Webb....WOW!!!!!!

Tim Thomas is just another Kelvin Cato in a smaller body. Played a few god games, lights the potential flame in GMs round the league and gets a re-signed to a massive contract to do diddly squat. If he was as good as his pay cheque there is no way Mr No defense Robinson would be starting.

Yup! He has a huge contract like Cato's.

He's good, but not as good as the contract reflects.

    NO!

Cat did not get a big payday, he took a small contract here out of team loyalty. He wants to be an all-star, and that is not going to happen if he is coming off of the bench. Our backcourt is fine, we need only worry about the front line. If only everyone would accept contracts like Mobley and Sir Charles, building a championship team would be easy. It's not like 4 million dollars is not enough money.

i've watched timmy t since nova. he is just now finding his niche, and should be able to keep it up, with the right team.

i don't know about all this "he'd be starting in front of glenn robinson stuff". apparently, you've forgotten about sam vs. kenny smith for the rockets. the "best player" does not always start. the "best player" for the role needed is who starts.

i'd take tim thomas in a new york second. he is the 2/3/4 combo player off the bench i've spoken about. unfortunately, tim is probably going nowhere. he's finally found his niche, and i dont' think g-karl will be letting him go anytime soon.

    verse,

You propose a very interesting scenario, Thomas for a package including Cato.

Thomas is a very interesting player. He's underachieved so far, but so did Mashburn until he was given some REAL responsibility.

He could be a bigger bust than Cato, or next year's Juwan Howard (a good player who is at his best when surrounded by other good players).

I'd probably swing a deal for him if I had the authority to do so, even with his contract. He's another one of these young players who just needs some room and faith in order to grow, IMO.

Tim Thomas performed great last year also. I would really love to have him here. Forget CWEBB. It would be great to get to get Tim and Sam. I know the CAP really wouldnt allow it, but it would be sweet. Some kind of sign and trade deal.

Sonics - Get Rockets #18/#23, Shandon, future picks

Bucks - Get Payton , future Sonics draft picks

Rockets - Get Sam and Tim

    Would be sweet to have

    G - Wink/Sam/Cat/Mooch
    F - Mo T,Tim T,Horry,Langhi,#13
    C - Dream,Crapo,Collier

Cant wait to hear this shot down....
