Speaking under confidentiality that they though would never come to light roughly a hundred major participants in the Global War on Terror, Afghan episode spoke out thay they always knew we were losing and making things worse but lied about it throughout both the Bush II and the Obama Adminstrations.

It strikes me like that other famous war the War on Drugs which seems to be winding down as also a major loss and stupidity.

What is the motivation for these two stupid "wars"? Granted huge expenditure of money has meant jobs and profits as well as political gains to be made by being "tough. Maybe this is too cynical as the primary motivation for these disasters. Could it just be that folks are so scared by drug abuse and terror that they can't think straight about how to combat them?

You didn't have to be a genius before the invasions of Afghanistan/Iraq to realize that those situations were going to end up being disasters. There is a long history of European involvement in Afghanistan that pointed to that and the situation in Iraq, Ok it takes 15 minutes to blow up Saddams army but then what?

Stupid. Horrible waste of money all of it. The U.S. military has the capacity to reach out and touch anyone in the world wherever they are. There was no need for large scale operations. Trying to occupy countries and state build was beyond asinine.
