He's avg. 16+ in his past 16 games. Even if it's for the Hawks, not many centers can get more than 10 and 10 a night, let alone 16 points.

Sorry, didn't mean 16 games, meant 3 games. Just a tad different.

Collier just put up 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Is this guy for real? Is he suddenly in supreme shape, or was he in the same shape when he was with the Rockets?

Regardless of what team he's on, he's scoring with a high FG%, grabbing some rebounds now too.

Maybe Rudy WASN'T wrong to trade for him?

Especially when those games are against Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Washington. Not exactly 3 powerhouses in the paint. Besides, he's also averging less than 5 rebs and less than 1 blk per game.

Cato could not put up those numbers against those teams.

Pryz is out for the year - Collier is the starter now. Let's see what he can do for the Hawks

CD should be fired for letting a stud like JC get away!!!

I can't believe we have a thread about Jason Collier having a great game. Well, I suppose everybody's bound to have a few. I hear Granville Waiters was a beast in a few games.

    This thread is hysterical.

    Hypothetical situation

Boki for Collier right now, do you do it?

My guess is most of you say no because most of you guys have some weird man crush on Boki but I probably would make the trade.

I would say no because if JJ went down right now we would be screwed at the small forward position. Plus, I think we can get a little better for Boki.

I would say no because we already saw what Collier can do, and just because he had a nice pair of games doesn't mean jack ****.

Calvin Booth Had some nice games as well.

Good stats on a terrible team means nothing.

It took a while for Brad Miller to find his niche too....in fact Brad wasn't even drafted.

Collier is a Brad Miller type of player, smart and a good shooter.

He would have done well on this Rockets team.

Houston was actually a great situation for Collier.

He was a part of an effort to design a team around Francis.

Francis was supposed to be able to drive, lane free of clogging big men, and if there was nothing, kick it out to big tall Collier on the 3 point line, who would promptly nail the shot.

He wasn't supposed to need the ball, except when it was convenient as a way of unclogging the lane.

Not a bad idea, but it didn't work, mainly because he wasn't good enough. Lots of players have good games. But a couple of good games are meaningless. Remember Tracey Moore, anybody?

    Haven,

The problem was not that Collier could not fulfill that role, but that he rarely got the chance, be it that there was no pass, or that he was injured, or simply not playing.

Collier can play in the NBA, and is doing fine and will continue to do fine.

I don't know if he can be a Brad Miller, but what I do know is that he's been playing well enough to earn meaningful (not starter) minutes in the NBA.

You know what that means? That means Rudy was right, and he was easily worth his spot in the draft.

Remember when JC went on that tirade last year about not getting playing time? Saying that another coach in the league will see his talent? I will tell you this much, I watched him play against the Cavaliers, and he was playing great. Doing things that would help the Rox right now. Setting picks, hitting the 15-18 footer. Playing defense. Everytime I saw him play with the Rox, he definitely hustled and always contributed.

Never understood why he never got any playing time.

Yeah, they sure don't. The numbers Tracy McGrady are putting up mean nothing too, right? We all know he is a scrub.
