I guess I could have worded that part better... I just mean, I’m not sure what the general vibe is from a 21/22 year old point of view. I get maybe it’s a dumb question, but I like to throw **** like this out and just see what others think.
Your question is whether SHE will likely have an issue with YOU being too old. It's a good question. The answer depends on what you are bringing to the table and what type of person she is looking for. Is she a 21 year old braniac who is tired of the boring keggers that boys her age care about? Is she a wild nymph who is looking for dudes in boat shoes to eiffel tower her? Is she an attractive, well kept lady who is looking for someone to wine and dine her? Is she a chill chick who likes hanging out with chill dudes? We don't know any of that really so hard to be specific about her. I think a 21 year old girl is unlikely to have an issue with a guy being 27 immediately as any sort of dis-qualifier, but she's probably less likely to be ok with you being a loser at 27 than she would be ok with dating a 21 year old loser.
Yeah, I apparently (inadvertently) made this seem like I'm asking "will she like me? will she like me!?" I didnt intend for it to come off that way. There's obviously more to it that no one, including myself since I just met the girl, know. I simply have never considered someone this much younger than me, and all my friends (male and female) are within a couple years of me. So I was just curious as to what the pulse is from a group of seemingly regular folks. Honestly, its more of a general curiosity than a question of this specific topic...
I think 21-27 is honestly on the edge where it can go either way. You're almost 30 and she's 21. To a lot of early 20s, 30 year olds seem "old." It's probably a spectrum though. Like every year after 25 gets a little closer to the edge and then 30 you fall over. You can pull yourself back from the edge before 30 by offsetting the age with other things like looks, money, charisma, chemistry, etc. Like I said though, doubt that a 21 year old girl who is well grounded instantly shuts off the idea of sleeping with a 27 year old. Other factors would push one way or the other.
at 30, 23 would have seemed like too big of an age gap for me personally. at 50, 43 doesn't seem that bad.
Age is but a number. Except, when it involves age of consent or someone 10 years younger who is shy or has self-esteem issues. Then, that becomes downright creepy.
If she's mature, then she could be into you. You mentioned that you're looking for serious relationships. Some 21/22 year old people are not. But you won't know unless you try.
I'm 47, and it doesn't matter what my age is. I dated two 48 year olds this week and a 43 year old a couple weeks ago. But, dude. If an attractive 22 year old wants to hit on me, I'm going to allow it.
It's really difficult to know if you two are built for long term compatibility without at least a few dozen rolls in the hay.
