I normally dont like to speculate about trades since most of the time, people have liek delusional fantasies about who we can get on the team (TMac, Hinrich, Wade, etc.). However, I think this is a reasonable thing to ponder: Marko Jaric for Cutino Mobley. I am not sure about the money situation so someone is gonna have to clear that up for me if they want to, but I think the contract is similar with Jaric's being shorter. Jaric is the big PG who would free up Stevie and allow his total freedom from ball distribution responsibilities. He's 6'7", plays good D, creates off the dribble, is young and can hit a open jump shot. Plus, his talent level is close enough to Cat's that I think there would be enough to work with in terms of getting a deal done. For the record I like Cat, but I feel he would be better as a Vinnie Johnson type player for the Rox. I also have long believed that SF3 needs to play off the ball to reach his potential. I only suggest this because Cat's is really our best tradeable commodity because he's not THAT crucial to the team and has somewhat of a reasonable contract with legitimate NBA skills. What do ya'll think? Please serious trades only, no Cat for Hinrich type trades
You gotta be kidding. Jaric is 6'5", and on his rockie contract. Look at his statistics. They are steps below Cat's. Cat shoots 3 no worse than Jaric shoots 2! Cat has better rebound, assist, FT%, FG%, just about everything. A trade of Cat/Billup or Cat/Crawfold+filler would make sense.
I know that Mobley has the better stats. But stats aint everything in the NBA. As for Billups, he is the glue of that offense, they are not gonna give him up for a streaky freelancer like Cat
Jaric is WAY too little to give Mobley up. Jaric and Wilcox, now THERE'S a deal both teams could consider. This way, they could make Richardson (who's demanding way more than he's worth) expendeable. But this leaves them without a PG, unles you're counting on them picking one up in the draft. But Wilcox is a player that I would LOVE to have. He's got the fire. Jaric would be a nice player to have alongside Steve because of his shooting ability and because he takes care of the ball well. But his defense is horrible, not decent.
I don't want to trade Cat. Francis maybe for the right deal, but Cat should stay. If Francis learns to play in JVG system better(and he has gotten better) then the Rockets really don't need to trade him either. This should be the core of the Rockets team. 1. Yao 2. Francis 3. Jackson 4. Cat Now all I think the Rockets need in order to play with the best in the NBA is a PF to help take pressure off of Yao. The Rockets should really look into signing Rasheed Wallace this offseason. Move Cato or Taylor if they have to free up cap space.
Take a look at Brent Barry. He's back from the injury list, and he just lit up the Magic for 6 out of 6 3 pointers. If the Rockets don't make a single trade, they can still upgrade the team a lot at the guard position by getting this guy.
Jaric is a terrible point guard, slow as molasses. He and Steve in the backcourt would be a joke defenseively. enough with the trade threads, the deadline has passed and we aren't exactly lottery bound.
I think that Jaric has got real skillz. He is a steady player right now and is still young, but I htink he has real potential. I'm just theorizing for the offseason.
He is the worst starting PG in the WC. Potential or not, no thanks. http://www.82games.com/03LAC4C.HTM
Um....no. Now, if LAC still wants Iverson (and why not? he sells tickets, and Sterling is more a businessman than a basketball mind), then some sort of 3-way that gets us Elton Brand, yes, I'd consider that. Jaric might be a decent player but he hasn't shown it yet. The Clippers organization does not exactly cultivate players very well. Besides, aren't the Clippers saving their money for Show-be Bryant (provided he's acquitted, of course)?
Stat Comparison Cat Marko PPG 15.5 8.5 RPG 4.4 3.0 APG 3.3 4.8 FG% 42% 38.8% 3P% 39% 34% FT% 81% 73% In no way would this trade make any sense for the Rockets.
shrug. just my thoughts on what I think would wokr out for the Rox in the long run. I actually would prefer Brent Barry but I think he is already 34 this year. I dont look at individual stats, since they never tell the whole story. If you gyus wanna kill me because their stats don't match up, thats cool, I've said my piece =)
Why does everbody want to trade mobley? He has been one of the rocket's most consistent players and he has a very reasonable contract. He is key to our defense and he knows his role.
Mobley is a very good 3 point shooter, and can penetrated occasionally when the need arises. Plus he is a very good defender to boot. Mobley is perfect for Yao and perfect for JVG. I never believed this before this year, but he has shown a lot to me in this past season. Recognizing his role in this offense. Unless we're getting a serious upgrade at the two like with a T-Mac or a Ray Allen, I don't want to see Mobley leave.
