I should point out those numbers encompass 9 games - 2 each against LA, Minnesota, Sacramento, and Houston; 1 against the Spurs.
1) Kenny had to be traded. No one can argue with this. Griffin was brimming with potential, no one on this board even suggested trading him. MoT was untradeable. The 3 PF's were getting on each others' nerves and it was affecting their games. 2) Kenny is not a capable starter in the West on a team as good as the Rockets. Last I checked, the Sixers are 10 games below .500, and they see the East more than they do the West. Saying 15/10 is damn good, considering he plays for a ****ty team with no offensive options other than Iverson, is the equivalent of saying Jason Collier is "breaking out" right now. 3) I'd sure love to have him on the bench for us right now though. Solid guy, brings a spark to the team, can dominate second units, plays very good D relative to his size. 4) IMO, he's overpaid.
Why are ppl still whinning about this!!!!!! He's gone! I like the team we have now than the one from last year! Get over it! Who knew EG was going to go mental! NOBODY!! and by the way KT's #'s were not that good here! and by the way if KT would have stayed cato wouldn't be playing nect to Yao and we'd still b wondering what would happend is they got played together!! Ok so ppl stop talking about the past and talk about now!! THANX U!
I can't speak for everyone else, but I wasn't whining about Thomas being traded. I just felt the majority of the posters in this thread prior to my post were talking about Thomas as if he was ineffective when he was in Houston and that was simply not the case. And to act as if we're better off now without him or Posey is equally ridiculous.
Would we have Jim Jackson if we held on to KT or Posey? I don't get to see or follow the Rockets nearly as much as I used to or would like to, but hasn't JJ been pretty important to us this year?
I wish we had kept KT, but if we had to trade him, we should have at least kept Posey. Both young players who are coming into their own. CD made a horrible mistake getting rid of both for nothing. DD
KT is gone, I dont see why we should keep talking about him. FYI, if you think SF and Cat didnt pass Yao enoug, KT ignored Yao completely. He made MoT look like bird. The concensus on this board was KT was cancer, and we were happy Rudy pulled off the trade, nonetherless we didnt keep Posey at season end. I still dont think he would've helped us even he had been traded.
Of course, how else or you going to evaluate decisions--take a fan poll at the time fo the decision? These guys are supposed to have insight about their players ability, faults (e.g., EG) and potential, keen insight is what separates the successful franchises (best owners/managers) from the rest, unless you are fortunate enough to win the lottery when there is a Hakeem, Shaq, TD or Yao Ming in it. Since last year we lost or two most promising role players, KT because we felt were not going to resign him, than Posey because we failed to matched a modest/low contract for a starting NBA vet player offered by a rival team in even further over the cap than we were (but who had a GM who historically has been pretty good with such talent evaluations). We replaced them with short term fixes at low cost but no viable long term pieces. We also have lost 3-4 draft picks for NADA, 1 to acquire Posey (IF we were not going to at least match an MLE why bother making this trade in the 1st place) and 2-3 more for the sole purpose of making higher profits (potentially avoiding the lux tax but not really making a difference on real usuable cap space to acquire people that actually play the game of basketball). As far as I can tell we have done about as bad as possible job to try to get long term talent around Yao Ming. But because we lucked into position to draft Yao Ming the overall potential of the team is good and the fan base mostly placated. To me this is the sadest thing, the Owner lucks into a franchise (Yao) only to exploit every last dollar by making dollar saving moves that hurt the potential to infuse other talents into the team. jack > winning, and that really sucks when the taxpayers build you a new stadium and where the Owner has consisently made a lot of money and has had his investment grow greatly. It is hard to fathom the wool pulled over most of the fans and that the media let Les get away with it (well I can see this, after all the reporters don't want to get cut out of their feeding trough). Honestly the Rockets/Les don't deserve having Yao Ming and being as good as we are, lucky for Rockets fans we do. I wish he would sell the team to an owner who puts the team first.
