The Hornets are coming to the west next year. From last night game, it seems pretty clear to me that they need more size in the paint to survive in the west. Magloire is too undersized to play 5, that fat Trylor is, well, too fat to guards the quick and long 4's in the west. PJ is not a banger. Since they are missing size so badly, maybe there is a chance to sell Cato or MoT to them. The more natural choice is Cato, since they can play his at 5 and move Magloire to 4. I would propose Cato/PJ+filler. PJ has height with some offense, and he rebounds very well. He is a better fit for the 4 on Rox roster. Given Hornet's need for size and PJ's age, I think they will consider the proposal. Or, Cato+filler for Marshburn. Marshburn is a good offensive force, and rebounds ok. He is a bit short, but quite strong. we can play him at 3 most of the time and move him to 4 when allowed. Basically, Cato has less and less role on our team, and his value is best utilized through a trade. Not pushing anything or eager to shake up the team, just a thought after the game.
you're crazy we need cato. We couldn't compete as well as we are now without Cato. Also w/o Cato we aren't the best defensive team
PJ Brown is one of the best defensive power forwards in the league. Plus as you could see last night, he can hit a jumper. Also known to hit layups... unlike some people.
Magloire is 6'11, 250. I wouldnt call that undersized. Id rather have a Magloire/Brown c/PF tandem than a Cato/Magloire tandem. Not sure if NO would agree with me or not. No way Cato + filler gets you Mashburn. Id much rather have Brown at PF than Cato, except for the fact that Brown will be 35 come training camp, and 38/39 when $9 mil per contact expires in 2007. Id much rather have a more long term solution at the PF spot.
Marshburn is very injury prone, he averages less than 56 games per season throughout his career. He also wants to be the No.1 option on NO and we've already got Yao and Francis... I doubt NO would do this anyway. -G'day-
Magloire/PJ combo is undersized in the west, in my opinion. They just don't have enough body down there. We have a lot of weight in the paint, but not enough speed and offense. Cato for PJ is beneficial for both teams. PJ is a bit old, that is the problem. We do need to work on the 4 position, and I don't see how we can get an ideal deal on 4 when we have two huge contracts on Cato and MoT. Trading either one of them for a yong, good 4 at the right price seems a bit difficult to achieve. If I remember right, PJ has 3 year left on his contract. We can get the cap space after that or trade him in the last year. I know it is not a long term solution. But neither is Cato, and his contract is equally long.
PJ Brown would be a very nice addition to the ROx, plus he would be "Getable", the Hornets might take him for Cato straight up, but it would be close enough that I think the management could make it work if they really wanted to.
it is long shot. I depends on what filler we will throw in. Say we throw in Pike and some cash. Hornets are full of brickers, and maybe we can still sell them the idea that Pike is a good spot up shooter.
The rockets still have that trade exception they got from the from Utah?. they might convince the Hornets with that and cato. Boy can you imagine the rockets with the addition of Mash? wow.
Again, how is 6'11'', 250 and 6'11'', 240 undersized??? Thats actually a pretty nice tandem to have. BTW. Odds are, Magloire can not play PF as effectively as C. And there is no way you would convince NO that Cato is a better PF than Brown.
True...PJ is hell of a defender and can at times be a descent offensive option. he'll be a nice addition to the rockets.
What? Now we want Mashburn on our team? Could Jason Kidd be far behind? What are we trying to become? The Dallas 3 J team of the '90s? I thought Jim Jackson and Jamal didn't get along in Dallas.
It was Jackson and Kidd who did'nt get along. For memorie, they were both after Tony braxton.. who could Blame them
