Nobody knows what the actual one or the cheaper one will cost yet. Those details have not been released, but there is a cheaper version on its way as well.

The $299 is a guess. That has been the "magic" price point for new consoles. It could be the Streaming/Download Xbox Series X version will be at $299, another with disc drive at $399, and the big boy at $499 or more. We probably won't know until E3 next June.

Hell, MS could charge $600 for the most powerful version and $399 for the Stream/Download version. We just don't know yet.

    Same for Sony.

Better just to stick with a PC and buy a controller...pretty much the same thing.

I want to say I’ll be out in this one if it’s only going to be twice as powerful as my one x. Since I became a father it hasn’t been touched except for when my daughter grabs a controller and accidentally turns it on. I still have AAA games sitting in plastic because I can’t stop buying them even if I don’t play them. All that being said, I’ll probably be in line with everyone else as the hype builds. I’m a weak man and I’ll cling to my fading youth as long as I can even if it means just staring at the damn thing.

Consoles are MUCH MORE OPTIMIZED experience. Yes, a High-End PC with a $700-$1000 video card will be more powerful. Gaming experiences with friends and chats are tailored for easier experience on consoles.

    It's a PC /thread

Seriously though ps/xbox - just get a pc, now Switch on the other hand, I've surprisingly enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong it's great they're having new consoles come out to utilize somewhat new pc hardware, but I'm seriously just looking forward to systems being able to play everything eventually like xbox/pc integration - and cross platform play even between pc/xbox/ps/switch

With all that said, switch is enjoyable since it's easy to play portable

Spencer told Gamespot, "We wanted to have a dramatic upgrade from the Xbox One base console. So when we do the math, we're over eight times the GPU [Graphics Processing Unit] power of the Xbox One, and two times what an Xbox One X is."

I meant gpu. We’ll see how much of a difference it makes when get more info next year. On a side note, I actually like the mini tower design.

This is exact reason why I want more cross platform play, then friends who don't have time/interest can still play with pc users and not be leftout. That's where I think Xbox is doing a great job w/ xbox/pc integration. I think we're going to see more cross platform play so hopefully friends who only get 1 console won't be leftout. I typically buy consoles still and near the latest pc components... But lately all I've been doing is wasting an expensive pc I built playing/learning guitar, and then the switch. My Xbox S is used for mainly media consumption vs making an htpc/getting a roku etc. I lately haven't been playing much but hopefully will soon.

On a side note I do enjoy consoles and am not some graphics snob, the main thing I look forward to on the new consoles are hopefully fast load times like I get on my nvme drive on the pc and as mentioned, cross platform play expanding.

    How was it for you?

Fallout 3 is my favorite game of all time, 4 was a big disappointment to me, but was still relatively a great game (just how much I liked 3)

I've traditionally been a PC + Nintendo guy. But FF7 Remake being exclusive is the only thing that's making me consider a PS5.

It's going to depend on how fast ff7 comes out, like if it's truly episodic and going to be all split up... you'll probably need to wait for PS6 to have the whole thing. I'm just saying PS6 with how long it's taken to make the thing.

I'm interested to see how it plays but I still think 4/6 are the better ones in the series, 7 though I'm still going to play, and hey if it is episodic, maybe I might have time to finish it, haha
