The Adelman era. Taking champion Lakers to game 7 against all odds without Yao and TMac, 22 game winning streak. That team had spirit, played hard and played like one team with teammates actually trusted each other (well except for TMac), kinda like the Raptors now. It was held back by the injuries and TMac drama, but it was very likable team that played very enjoyable basketball.
If Harden somehow came around the And1 era of basketball everyone would be trying to emulate his style (while most of the NBA already has). Everyone was wanting to beat their man one-on-one but since the super team Warriors came around, all everyone wanted to see was 2-3 superstar type players beat up on the rest of the league. If RW or PG or even Kawhi would have somehow made it to the Lakers, along with AD, they would undoubtedly become the reigning NBA darlings of this Warriorless era. I for one am glad that we were able to keep one of those guys off that squad.
With Les it was more Ferragamo and Gucci with a nice Petite Sirah, the current brand is more Ross discount bin with a Coors light. I prefer the prior brand of the franchise, wish I appreciated it more while we had it.
I love what the Rockets have been doing the last few years. But when I tried to watch repeats of last season's playoff games back in August or September I found them completely unwatchable. Some of that was knowing the painful outcome, some of it was the Rockets' style of offense last year. Thankfully the pace is better this year with Westbrook (it wasn't bad last year with CP3 and the second unit). They have to play better though; which I believe they will.
God I'd have killed to be in the lottery with that talent. So many years of being the 14th/15th pick. It was driving me crazy.
That adelman and the 1st year of dantoni when harden was the league leaders in assits was one of the better ones for me
The Harden/MDmA combo is so much fun when things are rolling. I absolutely loved our 65 win season. Getting so close to beating an "unbeatable team" was inspiring. I love all the scoring. I get frustrated with defense, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't get frustrated with the same thing during the Hakeem/Rudy years. It seems like anyone plus Harden is going to be fun to watch. I'm digging the Westbrook/Harden combo now. Even when it seems like it's not working, something good happens again. I hold out more hope for every game than I ever did before. Give me this current team or the Mbah a Moute teams any day. It's just fun. The 50 point Harden possibility drops my jaw every bit as much at the Dream Shake did.
The love for the Adelman teams is interesting. Houston 2007–08 82 55 27 .671 3rd in Southwest 6 2 4 .333 Lost in First Round Houston 2008–09 82 53 29 .654 2nd in Southwest 13 7 6 .538 Lost in Conf. Semifinals Houston 2009–10 82 42 40 .512 3rd in Southwest — — — — Missed Playoffs Houston 2010–11 82 43 39 .524 5th in Southwest — — — — Missed Playoffs Yao was the Anchor of those teams. The Artest Team was probably my favorite (We need some of that crazy . . .i hope Russ can provide it) I never liked Tracy . . .. . I made no bones about it .. . . There are some Choice Role Players on those teams that would feast on the modern team Lol! Now we would kill for some of those old 6'9 Power Forwards Rocket River
Lol NBA commentators have always said that and1 iso ball is bad for the team. That has always been the narrative.
