You told no lies here. The 93-94 series was deemed ugly and changes had to be made only because the Rockets won and the NY media at the time were sick about it. The SI cover controversy was the first true FU from the media that I can remember. That was supposed to be Ewing's title and Dream threw a monkey wrench in their plans. We destroyed the narrative again the following year in more spectacular fashion. The Magic beat the Bulls WITH Jordan, but somehow our titles all of sudden didn't seem to matter because Jordan didn't play? We ran through 4 top tier teams of that era in historical fashion but somehow folks still try to discount it. It's come full circle now with Harden/Morey/MDA. You nailed it about this current team and "brand" of basketball ball. Our "brand" defies the odds. Our "brand" has generally lead to less talented teams either beating or exposing the Golden teams of that era and the media has to scramble to find excuses for it. The current era and "brand" of Rocket ball receives the most hate by far. Dream was never disrespected as much as Harden. Maybe his brand is too much for the masses to bear. But this isn't new. At this point I don't think it will ever change. You still have cats running around saying that Robinson was better than Dream. Tim Duncan, Shaq whomever. Horry and everyone else can scream from the mountain tops that Dream was 20 times better but we as fans still have to deal the BS narratives. If Harden never wins a ring imagine what his legacy will be like nationally. If you are a younger fan, all I can say is brace yourself. Some things never change.
LMAO @ JVG offense. Those 65-75 games were an absolute nightmare. Granted a lot of it was the supporting cast.
Once MDA is gone, there will be another brand of basketball. Admittedly Harden would still dominate that style during his tenure. Milk Hair doesn't get to have an Offense, this is when and where Moreyball began. All 3 and layups/dunks.
I mean, hard not to go with Hakeem era. But if I had to pick another one, oddly, it would be this one. Westbrook's pace and Harden's half court dominance is so close to being my all time favorite team, if not for the fact that the rest of the roster and cap is poorly constructed around them.
Personally I loved watching Adelman and the island of misfit toys battling against way better talent and winning a few regular season games. I had zero expectations for them and they did play a more scoring by committee type game. If it's a style question then yeah that was more entertaining but if it's about the winning I don't care if its the ugliest or slowest I'll take it over anything.
Adelman's time here is very underrated. I loved watching his offense even if our best player was Kevin Martin. That being said, I much rather be in the position we are now, than back then.

Hakeem era because of championships I thoroughly enjoyed the Adelman era tho. Mostly scrubs playing team basketball and it was fun. Most coaches would have been in the lottery with that talent.
When MDA and Morey are both gone (next year?), the style of play won't change drastically. Morey and analytics have altered the way the entire LEAGUE plays offense, so a new coach and/or GM wouldn't bring in something vastly different. Unless Tilman does something truly idiotic like hire Jim Boylan or Phil Jackson, even with a new coach and a new GM we'll likely still shoot an ass-ton of threes and midrange will be for shot-clock issues only.
No one hated Hakeem's brand because he played BOTH ends of the floor.......but personally, I prefered Adelman's motion offense DD
How effective a style is depends on many things....... including the players you have running the offense and also how it dovetails on the defense end. The Adelman and MDA style is certainly good enough to win a title as both are capable of scoring a lot of points. Adelman lacked the talent to really maximize his style of play and MDA won 65 games with his style of play and was a hamstring away from winning the title. Currently the Rockets lack the necessary role players to maximize MDA's system.
