I just wanted to drop in here (in the WRONG forum) and make a mention about rookies to the cc.net bulletin board. Many of us are very familiar with one another and understand the nuances of posting... [*]what forums to use for particular subjects [*]what and and are for [*]the personalities of individual posters In other words, we know what to expect because we are used to it here. We have developed a community of well over a thousand regular (or irregular) posters. For every poster, there is at least one lurker and I would bet far more. People from all over the world read this board for info about the Rockets and why shouldn't they? Where else do you get scoops on Rockets info faster? Nowhere! Even though the vast majority of us have no connection to the Rockets whatsoever, everything from overheard cell phone conversations to chance encounters with players at the mall can lead to information on our team. I've said it many times, a thousand (or two or three or four) pairs of eyes are better than one! That having been said, it has always been a goal of cc.net and should be a goal of all of us as posters to encourage new posters as much as possible. We all know the consequences of overbearing administrators that squelch the free dialogue of other boards and we know the boards that are so open and wild, many of us wouldn't WANT to visit there for fear our heads would be bitten off at every turn. We try to keep a balance on this board between a totally free exchange of ideas and a moderated one. With that in mind, I ask that we all go easy on new posters. For every newbie that ends up as Bob Rainey, there is one that will become Will. Ok, maybe not Will. Anyway, the last thing any of us should want is to discourage people from posting. It just takes away from the conversation. I'm glad that there are people out there looking after the well-being of the board as much as I am glad we are all talking about the Rockets. But, I think we all want to keep it that way and the best way to do that is to go easy on new guys. It think it is obvious when we have a troll or problem child on our hands. ------------------ The internet is about the free exchange and sale of other people's ideas. - Futurama

Just remember, just because you dont have a bunch of posts, your still special. Look at me! ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
