I think most are in agreement that Yao is the man.
    What makes him better?
    Outside shooting
A guard that can get him the ball

What kind of players make him better?
Outside shooters who won't clog up the middle
    Good passers
    A burly PF

What type of players can we use around him that would not cost as much because they are not well rounded (in other words, they need to be around Yao to excel)? I am thinking about a Larry Smith type player would be a great complement. Ben Wallace would be awesome but that won't happen. So, who can be had that fills that role on the cheap?
? - maybe someone else can throw out some good ideas.
maybe Kenny Thomas or Donyell Marshall
Wilcox might be had at a reasonable price

    On the not so cheap:
Ben Wallace - won't happen but would be perfect
Randolph - maybe they deal him since Rahim is there
    KMart - sign and trade?
Brand - this guys does everything

    Which shooters could be had?
Ray Allen - 1st option for Francis
Mike Miller - has not done that well in Memphis but could excel here
Morris Peterson - shooter that will be a FA
    Giricek - also a FA

    - - - -

    My favorite deal for Francis:
Francis for Ray Allen (mix in chicago or whoever, just do it). Do it!!
Then Cuttino and Cato for ? (Chandler/MMiller/Gooden/whoever we can get that can shoot).
Then deal for MMiller. Or deal Cat for Chandler and sign Peterson to play the 3 (Jackson could backup SF and SG).

PG - FA (or CatoMoT for Snow)
    SG - RAllen, Jackson
    SF - Miller, Jackson
PF - same as now, sadly
    C - Yao
    OR
    PG - FA
    SG - RAllen, Jackson
    SF - Peterson, Jackson
    PF - Chandler/Gooden/etc
    C Yao

    Other options on Seattle trade:
try to get Radmanovich and/or BBarry in sign and trade.
for both, offer Cat+MoT and take one of their overpaid centers

Sadly, except for RAllen, I don't think there is another PG or SG worth Francis that we could get. Teams just are not going to deal Kidd/Bibby/kobe/mcgrady/carter/etc.

    So, what about forwards?
Ben Wallace - entire team except for Yao is not enough
Brand - LA has Wilcox/Ely so maybe Francis would be enough
Randolph - we would have to take either stoudamire or patterson but we could probably get them to take MoT
KMart - sign and trade for francis? Francis at SG next to Kidd would be sweet for New Jersey.

PG - FA (or Cato for Snow)
    SG - Cat
    SF - Jackson
    PF - KMart or Brand
    C - Yao
I like this much better than what we have now.

That just mean's after 5(?) years of Francis and poor team performance, people are open to trading him. If in year 5 of Yao, we're still out of the playoffs or even round 1 fodder, I'm sure Yao will be in a similiar situation as Francis is now.

Hey! Did anyone of you guys think about this question?

After Yao's rookie contract expire, you know dame well that almost every time in the NBA will want Yao to be on their team, and the truth is that a lot of those team can give Yao more than Houston, like money, city, friends, and other stuff.

Do you think the Rockets's management will compete with the other team for Yao? Let's say that if they do, what will Yao choose?

Personally, I think Yao will still choose the Rockets over the other teams as long as the deal and the current team roster are right, because Yao play not for money, and you know dame well that Yao will have a hard time living his teamate because Yao is the MAN fill with moral, virtue, loyalty and friendship with others.

You're right, Houston doesn't provide money, city, friends, and other stuff.

Yao Ming will be a Houston Rocket for a long time, don't worry.

Neither Yao nor Lebron can be traded for reasons that go beyond basketball ability.

If you forget this for a moment, you could come up with some trades

...Lebron for ALL Rockets they want except Yao Ming and where we have to take any filler they want us to. I'd do it, Yao and Lebron an 8 CBA guys is a nice start. I was critical of Lebron at the start for not shooting and in general was skeptical of the hype, but while he never will be a Larry Bird he isn't a horrible shooter considering his age nor does he have horrible form. He is as far or farther than Kidd, Payton, even Magic in their outside shooting and appears to have the same drive to make sure as these players did that at a mimimum they become solid NBA shooters. I am not one to say Lebron is going to be the best player in the league nor better than Yao for the long haul, but he could be and I have ZERO doubt he will be a top 10 player for a long time and would pair grant with Yao. (Those two would remind me more of Kareem and Magic than Shaq and Kobe BTW)

    Want to trade Yao Ming...?

How about Yao Ming (plus filler Cato/MoT) for Peja, Bibby and Brad Miller? That would be hard to turn down. We move SF to the 2 and have Cat as the 6th man, or use one of them (Francis likely) to get a good 4.

How about Yao Ming (plus filler) for T-Mac, Gooden and Orlando's lotto pick?

How about Yao Ming (plus filler) for Kobe Bryant (assuming Ng verdict), Luke Walton and Brian Cook?

How about Yao Ming (plus filler) for Brand, Maggette and the clips #1 pick?

Or Yao Ming for KG or TD strait up?

All tempting and entertaining for a while, but it is more entertaining (and much more realistic) to think about how to build around Yao Ming not build using Yao Ming.

Just a question guys, is Camby a FA or a restricted FA? Could we also consider Rodney White as a backup SF for Jimmy Jax, i think he defends well and can shoot the 3 ball... For Camby, he could be an option for the PF position.. But i think we need some bulkiness at a that spot in order to assist Yao, but he should have some offense...

Teams can't give Yao more money than the Rox.

The Rockets are never going to trade Yao.

On the other hand even Wilt Chamberlain got traded. I think twice. The first to the 76s led to one of the all time great teams and the 76s defeating his former team SF in the 67 finals. The second to the Lakers led to one of the all time great teams in 72.

But I don't think Houston's management is stupid enough to even think of trading Yao. WAIT a minute - Maloney, Cato, Mo T, Rice, Moochie. On second thought maybe they are stupid enough.

    Never mind.

Yes, Uncle Les is greedy and clueless but he's not THAT stupid. Yao is the ONLY reason the Rockets have a shot at making a run for the title someday. To win it all you need a real big man who can play. Mark Cuban would wet his pants if he could get Yao because that is the one piece the Mavericks lack: a true center (Note: I do not consider Shawn Bradley a true basketball player much less a center...).

If he were to trade Yao to the Mavericks, Blazers or anyone else, he'd might as well shut down the franchise and sell the team because that would be the end of professional basketball in Houston. The fan backlash would be insurmountable.

I believe Camby will be a FA this offseason. The Rockets might want to take a look at him, but not too hard. Camby has a knack for grabbing rebounds, which would be nice, he can score as well, but the injury report is always something to look at. The guy hasn't played a full season in a really long time, and the Rockets need consistency.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Rockets sign Marcus Fizer. He's a MoT type player that could come pretty cheap if the Bulls waive him. He's not the solution, but it could give the Rockets a little more flexibility when it comes to the offseason.

Um, no. I don't see how T-Mac and Yao is any better than Steve and Yao. If anything, we would need lesser players who demand less shots. But all of this is pointless to discuss, because no one in the Rockets organization gives a damn what you or anyone else has to say.
