preferred destinations. Both, Vescey and Webber suck, so that's why I said let's go after Rasheed Wallace in an earlier post. I think that Weeber want to go on the East Coast so he won't have to see the great frontline's day in and day out in the Western Conf. I just think we should think long and hard about Rasheed because he is on the trade block. I like Antonio Davis also but the fact that he likes Orlando and his age makes me think twice about bringing him here. So what do you guys think we should do?

Peter Vescey quoted his sources when he said that. Please.

And remember, even if those are his preferred destinations, Mobley was supposed to be going to Toronto and Taylor was supposed to go to Seattle or Orlando.

But they both came here. Anything can happen.

I don't feel like starting a brand new thread but Dr. Jack's sources claim Orlando is Webber's first choice.

I agree j-bone. There is a great deal of risk involved, but I think Wallace could be the answer here.

I just finished posting this in another topic, but I think it applies here as well...

Rasheed Wallace is probably going to be on the block, and in the name of team chemistry, they (Portland) may just be desperate enough to take Cato and Williams back for him in a deal that includes Thomas and a draft pick. (Just make an extra seat on the bench for the team shrink.)

The quest for Webber is not looking good and Taylor is not the answer. In the Western Conference, you need real interior strength - not undersized power forwards that can't rebound.

With the trade above, we could still go out and sign a couple of old Rockets (Kevin Willis and Otis Thorpe) to play the 5 and add Christian Laetner to back up the 3 and 4. I would also like to see us pick up a defensive-minded guard like Erik Strikland.

That would give us the following lineup:

    Center - Kevin Willis/Otis Thorpe
    Power Forward - Rasheed Wallace/Christian Laetner/Matt Bullard
    Small Forward - Draft Choice/Christian Laetner/Dan Langi
Shooting Guard - Cuttino Mobley/Erik Strickland
    Point Guard - Steve Francis/Moochie Norris/Sean Colson

That's why I included him in Peter "Throw it against the Wall" Vescey's thread.

I think bringing Wallace to the Rockets would be great for us. Despite his attitude, Wallace is still one of the top PF's in the league. I also think we might be able to straighten him out with our class organization. You never hear anything about any Rockets getting into trouble off the courts (except for when Barkley played for us and threw a guy threw a window), and I also think that Wallace's teammates added to his "crazyness" in Portland. How good of an influence can Pippen, Kemp & D. Davis be?

If Peter Vescey didn't include the Rockets, than I can only assume the Rockets will be Webber's choice. [IMG]

Wallace has got bigger balls and a much better outside shot than Webber. Works for me.....

    Rocket Addict,

Kevin Willis is exactly what the Rockets don't need. He may be tough, but I am not in tha mood to see any 1 for 8 from the field performances in the playoffs.

And Kevin willis, has short arms, and he is an overrated defender.

And he is the biggest reason the Rockets lost to the Jazz in 1997 and 1998. But we have already had that debate.

Once upon a time, the Rockets nearly traded for a midget point guard named Mighty Mouse. But someone leaked the information and the deal folded (thank God).

These sort of threads used to discourage me; I even posted what my brother-in-law heard directly from a guard in the Western Conference about the fact that "Webber's going to New York, or somewhere East, but he won't come to Houston." I thought, oh well.

But one of the destinations mentioned other than New York was Miami, and so I thought, why? The one thing Miami doesn't need is another power forward. And their depth sucks.

This is how I see it.

The Maloofs sucked up to Webber's Dad. Treated him well. Webber's Dad wants to convince Webber to stay or to at least let "this fine organization get something in return for you." Webber doesn't want to stay but allows himself to be cajoled; he also might not want to leave the Kings in the lurch.

"So, which teams in the East interest you?" ask the Maloofs. "We want to see what we can get in return, if you're determined to leave."

    "Well, NY, Orlando maybe (etc.)"

And where does Vecsey get his information? We don't know. People report what they think they know, or what they believe. And Vecsey has a column to write.

Now, Steve Franchise on the phone with Webber: "CD says, if you really want to play here, don't tell anyone. Tell your agent, let him make calls to certain teams, so that people think you've decided to go somewhere else. We got the draft comin' up, CD's talkin' to a couple of free agents and teams to see what he can get... but if people know you've got Houston on the brain, it might mess up other plans CD has."

I know I sound like Mr. Conspiracy or like I'm grasping at straws; and some of you don't want Webber in pinstripes anyway. But the last thing Webber should do if he really wants to play with Steve and Cat is TELL ANYONE.

Of course, Webber might just be an East-Coast guy and that's that. But I won't believe this latest until Doc Rocket or Clutch or whomever posts something to that effect.

Webb: Why should I go to Houston, Stevie? If you were me, wouldn't you want to go to Orlando? I mean, McGrady, Hill, Rivers...

SF: Don'tcha see, C-Webb? Rockets are the way to go. Yo, man, we got an unbelievable future. Me, Cuttino, you...and Morris. I swear Terance Morris will be The Steal. He's my Terp boy, ya know? You wouldn't be sorry if you came, Barkley took me partying one night and yo these clubs are tight, Webb! I swear, man,you won't regret coming here.

C-Webb: You make it sound sweet, but come on, in the east with Hill and McGrady, you're like, guarunteed a title, man. It could be the biggest mistake of my career-

SF (cuts in): Yo, Webb, what's this about Houston not even being a possibility?

    C-Webb: Huh?

SF: When LA killed San Antonio, Peter Vescey...

    C-Webb: That's bullsh-t, Franchise.
i hate Peter Vescey. He don't know nothin' about me. He been calling me day and night trying to pry into my life and my decision. F-ck him. Just cause he said that, I'm gonna sign wit da Rockets.

    SF: Dynasty, man, dynasty.

    Finalsbound,
There you go. That's the idea.

Toni Davis to Orlando is sounding more and more real anyway.

Do you know the difference between Peter Vescey and a braying ass? The braying ass would.

Anyways, C-Webb is going to be interviewed today on NBC by Costas, so he may drop a hint or two about his preferences.

I'm jumping on the Rasheed bangwagon. I don't think he is any more of a risk than C-Webb or any other PF would be. I agree that Taylor is not it. I would rather give K. Thomas more playing time than shell out major $$$ for him. I would love to hear anything more of substance on the Shareef possibilities.
