interesting site, but something's off- i searched for george soros' contribution to moveon and it didn't come up.
.... if basso didn't have me on ignore, he'd have the answer to his dilemma, which is actually spelled out in the other thread about moveon anyway........
OK. The reason that MoveOn.org has such a high profile, though, is Republican publicity slamming it. Thanks! basso, sorry to hear about the job and having a new one come along so soon afterwards. Is that your first? Congratulations in advance, anyway. I'm sure you'll find something quickly. If you're as good at job hunting as you are at driving some of us nutty, then it's a cinch you won't have to look long. mc mark, I just found that site doing a quick Google for political action committees. I haven't looked into it a lot, but it seems intriguing. Right up Mulder's alley!
I was watching Fox News for a bit tonight, and the 4 person panel all agreed emphatically that we shouldn't give a crap what other countries think as far as presidential preference. It was pretty cringe inducing. Speaking of isolationists...Thank God they're just there for entertainment.
Kerry faults Bush for alienating our allies, but hasn't questioned whether they should be faulted for alienating the US. France is hardly an ally in the same way we think of the UK or Canada. If fact, via the security council, it has become a strategic rival, not unlike china or russia. the french allowed themselves to be bought off by saddam, then had the "gaul" to try and block enforcement of the security councils own resolutions. it'll be interesting to see what affect it has on the american election if one of those leaders kerry refers to who wish his election turns out to be chirac.
France is definitely an ally, and could be an even stronger one. They flew the most combat missions in Afghanistan next to the U.S. That's a pretty good ally. France was willing to send in troops to enforce the UN resolutions. A statement saying otherwise is 100% false. They had said they were willing to given 30 days more. The French also were coming in with their own proposal on enforcing the resolution. The French did not vote for things in the way and on the time frame that Bush wanted. That doesn't make them a bad ally. Looking at what we now know about Iraq, France's way would have been much better than Bush's. The French have in no way alienated America. Of course after the Bush administrations incorrect claims about Iraq before the UN council, and his hamfisted way of dealing with Iraq, and not using force as a last resort, there may be several nations that are currently skeptical of what the U.S. says. It was the Bush administration destroying our credibility and not the French that is our biggest obstruction in the UN. Hopefully Kerry will be able to restore that credibility.
basso, I completely disagree with your take on France... lumping her together with Russia and China, of all things. Please! That's crazy. But I wanted to thank you for posting that picture. I want to sleep with that woman!!! (don't tell my wife. ) Viva la France!
OK, I sent it again. EDIT: well, it got sent back. Email me through the board (if you want) and I will respond. Stupid German email.
