Oh sure...apparently, we need to reflect diversity in all aspects of life...except professional sports. Kudos should be bestowed to professional sports...they are so color-blind they will even sign convicted criminals to play if they are the most qualified.

not sure if anyone ever noticed but if you ever look in the stands at utah games you will be hard pressed to find any fans that are not white. I just find it rather funny.

In the kings case it would be their gm preference in euro players and their best players happen to be white.

    Ladies and Gentleman, introducing:
The Diversity Point Distribution Strategic Imitative

Here's an idea for how Affirmative Action in the NBA should work. You can't just enforce team ethnic quotas because this would only lead to every team having token whites, Latinos and Asians. riding the pine while peoples of African ancestory raced up and down the hardwood.

What needs to happen is a points scored based solution where the NBA strives to have the percentage of total points scored by each ethnic group in a year match the percentage of that ethnic group in the US population.

For example, if 30% of the population is black, then 30% of the points for that year should be scored by blacks. If the population is 50% white, 50% of the points should be scored by whites.

To implement this solution, the NBA would simply change how many points given basket counts based on the ethnicity of the scorer, using the defacto standard of 2 points scored by a black man. I haven't crunched the numbers but let's say whites only score 10% of the points but represent 50% of the population; their total points would need to increase 5 times. This would mean that a regular basket scored by a white boy would count 10 points.

We would see many more white, Asian and Latino players if the NBA adopted this equitable point distribution strategy. plus, the Rockets would win the championship! Imagine how much each basket would count if Yao's scoring total had to make up 5-10% of all points scored in the NBA!!! We're talking 20, 30, 40 points a bucket!!!

It should be clear to all fair-minded Rocket fans that the Diversity Point Distribution Strategic Imitative is the only real solution! Thank you for your time.

Look at the Kings, Utah, Mavs seem to be the more ethnically diverse..

    LOL!

But how much is Drew Gooden bucket worth? Do you have a scoring system for Tiger Woods if he plays shooting guard position?

That reminds me of what a friend from Green Bay once told me. Green Bay loves African Americans more than any other city because the only African Americans in Green Bay are playing for the Packers.

People are confusing two arguments here. One argument is that whites are poor ballers in general, and whoever thinks that is just plain stupid. The other argument is that the ROCKETS' three whiteys are pathetic stiffs that hurt us in numerous games this season, and that's indisputable truth (I think that's what A-train was trying to state).

The real important question is why is it that ever since Leslie got control of the team we have to have at least two whites on the roster at all times? My explanation is that Les is steroetyping Texans and wants to cater to potential racist ticketbuyers. Whether it makes business sense or no, I can't tell. I can only say that it makes no basketball sense whatsoever.

Look at this list: Richard Petruska, Zan Tabak, Chris Jent, Pete Chillcut, Serge Zwikker, Matt Maloney, Brent Price, Bryce Drew, Mirsad Turkan, Jason Collier, Dan Langhi, Bostjan Nachbar, Erick Pisskowski, Scott Padget. Has any of these players made any positive impact on the team? Why would one team give so many chances to white scrubs?

Just think about this last istallment: The Rockets chose Pisskowski over J-Poz (money was a factor, too, I agree) and Nacbar over Tayshawn Prince and Kareem Rush. Where would we have been if we had those players instead of the scrubs moping the bench now...

This is the best affirmative solution I've ever seen. Man, can't wait to see Yao break Wilt's one game scoring record by making 3 jumphooks over Shaq.

Wait, we'll have to have 50% of the points scored by women too. Suit up those power dancers.

Kayman- I agree with you in principle but there is an aspect of your statements that looses me. You imply that there are good white players to be had, yet your examples are only of black player that we could have gotten instead of the bleached-skin stiffs we do (have) had.

Didn't the Rockets chose to go with JJ + Pike rather than just Posey?

Padget has been impressive at times this season. We all know what Pike can do its just a matter of time before his shot comes around. Boki is a work in progress hes looking like a bust but I wouldnt give up all hope on him just yet. IMO these are 3 decent basketball players who would be on somebody elses roster if they were not in houston.

Why ain't I surprised that kayman pulls some sh*t like this. I guess you're the only one that would argue that Pike never had a positive impact on his team.

What about Moochie? Did Les sign him as the "token black?" Oh wait, the majority of the team is black. Maybe Yao is the token "chinaman." For every almost Matt Maloney there's a Moochie. Your selective memory truly amazes me.

benvolio, this is the whole point. We had the opportunity to have decent players, such as T. Prince and J-Poz but Les and the Rockets chose to go with Pisskowski and Nacbar. Obviously, if we had the opportunity to sign a Nowitski or a Stojakovic, I would be extatic, however, we have not had this chance.
