I noticed that almost everybody here seems to think it is way too early to talk about the Championship, but after the 3 wins in a row, I couldn't help thinking of it again. Here are my reasons: 1. After the Mavs game, the Rockets have proved that they do have the ability to beat every team in the league. 2.Yaoming and Steve are in a rising trend. If they can keep it go, it would be too dreadful. It really reminds me of Dream and Drexler. 3.We have JVG as our coach. Remember the Knicks in 1999? JVG is kinda of coach who knows how to handle the playoffs. 4.The schedule may also be beneficial. If the playoffs were to begin at today¡¯s standings, there is a great chance that the Rockets beat the Wolves. And if that really happens, the Rockets will be unstoppable. Ok, I know many people will say: ¡° Give me the playoff first, then talk about the championship ¡± IMO, it is not the problem this season. I can¡¯t see any possibility that the Rockets will not be on the list. Don¡¯t worry too much, it¡¯s about time. I¡¯m getting tired of ¡° Let¡¯s be part of something big.¡± I¡¯m also not satisfied with ¡° Let¡¯s be big.¡± What I want to say is ¡° Let¡¯s be the biggest!¡±
If we do win in the first round, first i will punch myself in the face and then start to think we have a chance at the big dance. The west is too damn stacked this year for any of that to happen. GIG'EM
I too believe the Rockets have an outside shot at the Finals. IF the playoffs are set up like this the Rockets have a good shhot. 1st Round Nuggets vs Kings(Kings in 5) T-Wolves vs Rockets(Rockets in 7) Spurs vs Grizzlies9Grizzlies in 7) Mavs vs Lakers(Lakers in 7) 2nd Round Grizzlies vs Kings(hope for Grizzlies to win) Rockets vs Lakers(Rockets in 7) Semi Finals Rockets vs Grizzlies(Rockets in 6) NBA Finals baby!
Yeah! I like your post. What a sweet dream! I hope the rockets may turn it into reality. go rockets! Anything is possible!
Well as the Top 4 in the West guru, I have not yet looked that far ahead. My dream at the moment is still to get top 4 in the west. By the end of monday night the SPurs could be at 24 losses; Dallas at 25; La at 24; and Memphis at 25. If that happens then we would be within 2 games in the loss column of the #3 spot. Clearly not a gimme but I would take it. To me our playoffs have started and it is no longer about making the playoffs. Instead it is more about getting homecourt advantage and if we are as good as we think we are, then grabbing this opportunity would be a nice place to start. This is as good a time to draw a line in the sand, a time to get up and be counted, a time to make some serious noise. In a sense we may have already done that with our recent play.
Winning in the playoffs is much more difficult than winning in the regular season and the Rockets will be sending a rotation to the playoffs with almost zero experience. Who knows how these players will react to the post season. It's not a rule that is applicable 100% of the time, but it seems that experience is an invaluable ingredient to post season success.
It has been YEARS since I've seen a Rockets playoff game. I just can't wait to see them in a playoff series...the excitement...I can't wait for that.
I forget how the whole playoff ticket thing works. It's been so long. I know they've already started taking orders for season ticket holders but do they just start selling them a couple weeks or so beforehand for a majority of the tickets? That'd mean waiting in huge lines?
Actually if you have the first round matchups as they would be today, then the Rockets would meet the grizzlies in the second round of the playoffs and not the WCF. The rockets would be playing the winners of the spurs-grizzlies in the second round. 1-kings 8-nuggets 4-Lakers 5-Mavs 3-Spurs 6-Mavs 2-Minn 7-Rox
You think they'd be able to fill the arena for every play-off game?? Houston crowds have seemed empty in the 4 or 5 games that I've been to.
Fans become either too optimistic or too pessimistic. A few wins make them thinking Championship, a few losses make them thinking lottery.
