It's the fourth largest in the nation, but the ticket prices are so high that only the corporate consumers wishing to entertain clients can attend. Plus, the Rockets haven't made the playoffs in 4 years so our fan base isn't as avid as it should be. It will all change after this year though!
True. I went to the Clippers game and took my mom and my brother-in-law. My mom was the only one really cheering (me, I was cursing every time Weatherspoon missed another chip shot, or Yao let All-Star Kaman take it to the rack, or Steve or Cat threw it to the fifth row). But the only vocalizing from my section came from the drunk rednecks behind us who commented on the lame dunk contest during halftime ("ah come on, he's white, he can't dunk it", "this guy sucks").
I've never heard it referencing basketball before, but when I played beach volleyball, that's what we called it when you are watching 6-people teams just hitting the ball back over the net the first chance they get, instead of trying to set up a bump-set-spike. I guess it could carry over to basketball to be a derogatory term for a non-structured offence. It wasn't a racist reference, if that's what you are asking.
I dunno about corporate customers... I guess I'm still young and don't have a family.... so I'm only paying for myself. My dad and I will be attending the Timberwolves game on the 27th? of this month.... eating at the Red&White baby... aww yes....
Here's a quick question. Will home rocket playoff games be televised on pay per view as they have in previous years?
