Yeah you probably saw the tweets in that article but some say it looks like he's saying the Brewers did. What a coincidence, Yelich plays for them and remember that video of him peaking at right field with Darvish saying he had to step off the mound a couple of times.

Sad that Rich Eisen is promoting this buzzer theory, that ish literally came out of nowhere, just random speculation from some opposing executive or FO guy.

A conspiracy theory that is impossible to find evidence for.

Makes no sense either, if the Astros were using buzzers why would you ever use trash cans? The buzzers would be impossible to discover outside of MLB undressing players before games, people don't think before they run with this crap.

Just think about it, if you had buzzers, why ever use anything else? The bandaid that hides the buzzer doesn't even have to be visible, could be on your thigh or your calf or your foot or your ass...it really would be the perfect system.

Thanks for giving the Astros ideas for 2020!

Any asterisk is pure unadulterated BS.

This isnt directed at you by any means, but the people that actually read the articles also know that the Brewers have been linked over and over. Add his comments to the growing pile of "whispers" about the Brewers - specifically.

To think this is just two or three teams doing this (after the 2017 slap on the Apple Watch wrists of the Red Sox) seems pretty naive. For Manfred to pretend this is an Astros-only problem is ludicrous. It's too bad so much of the baseball press seems willing to go along with that lie.

No matter how many teams are doing it, there is no way in hell Manfred lets out that it's a problem with many teams. The PR backlash would be too big. Even if half the teams are doing it, they are still going to just punish the Astros publicly and pretend nothing else is going on. And then settle things privately.

This is the reason why I feel the punishment is going to be a lot less severe than people think. Punish the Astros publicly but not so much that those punished will retaliate. Get everyone on the same page to stop talking. And bury it as quickly as possible.

Also this and the Taubman issue does say one major issue with the Astros. They really piss off a lot of people with their modus operandi. They can definitely use better PR people just in general so people don't just pile on the organization the moment some scandal breaks.

The only thing that is illegal is if they had a camera relaying real time data, good luck finding that. Banging on trash cans, whistling, having scouts look to steal or decipher signs..none of that is illegal.

These Yankees and Dodgers fans whining about wanting the Astros' trophy to be handed to them are the same kind of fans that b****ed about us as Rockets fans constantly talking about CP3 getting injured and being our downfall in the 2018 WCF (which it was).

    That's going backwards.

Buzzers would be infinitely better than relying on a sound that the batter may or may not hear and could be used for road games.

I watched the video Jomboy cited...it was interesting but strong counters, above. I hate to give them the clock traffic but wanted to see what he was referencing.

A source familiar with the sign-stealing investigation said by midweek that Manfred’s investigators had interviewed “15 to 20” Astros personnel, including the 2017 coaching staff and manager A.J. Hinch—some more than once. The source said the investigation confirmed the scheme as described by Fiers was used during a period of about three months during the 2017 regular season. The source added that the investigation is also pursuing whether the Astros used modified systems to acquire signs in the 2017 postseason, when scrutiny is heightened and the banging of a trash can would be more manifest. The Astros were 8–1 at home in the 2017 postseason.

MLB is also investigating a directive by the Houston front office to its scouts that encouraged the use of cameras to surveil dugouts of potential playoff opponents as part of the team’s preparation for the 2017 postseason.

One team official says, “I don’t know if MLB wants to turn over every rock, because this is the culmination of where the game is going. Whatever comes out of this has to be good for the game. This gives MLB ample opportunity in this day and age to do whatever they want with protocols. You can reshape where technology is in our game. You have a golden opportunity to restructure some processes in baseball.”

Another team executive gave this example: If you walked into the team’s video room in 2015 you might see one pitcher and one catcher studying how to pitch hitters from the opposing team that night. Two years later the same room would be packed with players, coaches, support personnel and analysts fresh out of prestigious universities studying multiple camera feeds both to decode the signals of opposing catchers, coaches and managers and to find any “tells” from the pitcher that might give away his pitches.

“The whole microclimate of the video room has changed,” the executive says. “It’s no longer about how you pitch a certain player. It’s a competition of espionage moves. In MLB there is not a single viewer who tunes in to see a shell game of sign-stealing. As entertainment value it has none. It actually slows down the game. Let’s try to clean it up.”

Says another team official, “As technology grew in the game so did the curiosity of where you could take it.”

The official suggests confining players to their dugouts and closing video rooms during games. Outfitted with banks of laptops and monitors, many of the rooms now are within steps of the dugout, allowing players to scout themselves or the other team in between innings or at bats.

Was assuming the accused sequence was they went from trash cans to buzzers. If it's the other way, then nevermind.
