    meh.....

although I like playing the wolves in the first round as opposed to mavs or spurs

I'd want to get the 6th seed simply because memphis having a have decent team sucks :D

Jim Jackson at 33 years old has to play 38.4 MPG (though only 3rd on the team behind because Cat and SF) because he is so much better than any other 3 we have or back-up 2. For those 38 MPG he is putting up 12-6-3-1 (P/R/A/S per game) on 42-40-81-1.14 (FG%, 3%, FT%, PPS).

James Posey only has to play 29.4 (though 2nd on the team to Gasol) because Memphis has a plethoria of quality wing players including JP and Wells, Miller, & Battier. In those 29 MPG he puts us 13-5-1.5-1.6 on 47-38-85-1.42. JP leads either team in steals and would trail only Yao Ming [1.44] from either team in scoring efficiency (points per shot).

If we had Posey, JJ's minutes would probably be like 28 (plenty more than what he played for Sac last year--20.8 MPG), and Cat's would probably be like 35. That would leave 33 minutes for Posey, 20 at SF and 13 at SG, which again is 3 more than he gets from Memphis. Heck, as bad as our PFs have been you might even play the 6'8" Posey at PF and JJ at SF with the big guy in the middle given the right situational match-up (e.g., Dallas).

In sum there would have been plenty of minutes to go around with Posey, Cat and JJ in the two swing positions. IMO it is not so much that Pike, Boki and Griffin have not had a chance, it is that it is such a major drop off between their all-around games and the all-around games of Cat or JJ (or Posey if we had him) is why they don't play much. Further, heaven forbid the Rockets get an injury to Yao, SF, CM or JJ or burn out CM or JJ before the playoffs start, because we will be sunk then.

    Guck the Frizzlies!

Don't look now, but Memphis is only 1/2 game behind Dallas, and the Mavs could be looking at a sixth seed in the playoffs...

That's one of the reason they didn't keep Posey, but use the money on JJ, Pike and AG instead. I know you will say we could have signed them all, but that was not a realistic option, considering the spending limit of Les.

Right now Minny and Dallas would probably like to move down a bit. Dallas has absolutely no shot against the Lakers, and Minnesota probably would like to avoid the Rockets.

On the other hand Jerry West is dying to play the Lakers, it would be a good experience for the Grizzlies and basketball in Memphis.

I think the playoff order everyone would be most happy with is

    1. Sac
    2. Spurs
    3. Minny
    4. Lakers
    5. Memphis
    6. Dallas
    7. Rockets
    8. Den/Por/Uth

I would be happy if the Rockets play the Spurs, it is a great challenge to play the champs, and I have hunch we'll do better than the reg. season.

Maybe the biggest difference in Memphis is on the bench
    not on the court

Your latter phrase says it all, which is why Les should have be publically roasted. In addition to making heavy profits from the Rockets, fans, and the taxpayers since he took ownership, his net worth has exponentially increased for those same reason. He should be roasted and publically shamed into selling the team to an owner or group of owners who put the team before him just padding his bottom line further. The Rockets, fans and city deserve better than Les Alexander.

this is how Grizz get it down: getting lucky. Collected 2 wins on TD-less Spurs. I believe they also won Mavs early in the season when mavs were playing ****.

Huh. I guess the Griz were "lucky" when they beat the Rockets both times as well. Hell, they were lucky 40 times this season.

    Better lucky than good.

Yeah, when we had the back to back games against he Spurs, I wish TD was out. He killed us.

in three games they played Spurs, TD played a total of ONE QUARTER!

If the situation were reversed - we played TD-less spurs and Grizz played full strength Spurs, we would have been on top of Grizz.

Losing 2 close games to Grizz doesn't say they are better. We did the same thing to Minny and Lakers but we aren't better than them, at this moment.

    Griz vs. Sac-town 2-2
    Griz vs. Minny 1-1
    Griz vs. SA 3-1
    Griz vs. LA 2-1
    Griz vs. Dallas 2-1
    Griz vs. Rockets 2-0
    Griz vs. Denver 2-2

    vs Big 5 10-6

I don't care who played for whom, you go 10-6 against the Big 5 in the West, you're doing something right. You go 25-7 in 2004, you're doing something right.

Everyone doubts the Griz, but they just keep winning.

(and by the way, the Griz have had two starters out for the last three games and Mike Miller has been out for weeks. The Griz record since Miller's been out is 9-2)

I don't care what the Grizzlies are doing, the Rockets are taking care of business and that's all I care about. Memphis is having a good year, great. Sometimes people never appreciate what they have. The grass is always greener on the otherside. Just enjoy the Rockets winning, we're the #7 seed in the playoffs right now, and probably will be come playoff time. We would have killed for this last year, heck we would have taken the #8 seed.

Last I checked the Rockets were winning, they weren't going to the lottery. And there is only 2 games separating them. You act like Hubie has Memphis 15 games ahead of JVG and the Rockets.

Yeah, big deal. Grizz got three close wins over Spurs without TD. Credit those to Spurs, the record becomes 7-9.

Also, two wins over the Kings and Mavs early in the season when they were playing **** and hoover below .500.

And, what an honor for them to win Shaq-less, Kobe-less, mailman-less Lakers.

Realistically, if Grizz played big 5 at their full strength, just as Rox did, the record is more likely to be 5-11 or 4-12.

I will give Grizz some credits, they did suprisingly well this year. But they got quite a bit luck to get where they are now.

That they happened to beat a bunch of good teams without their best players doesn't mean the Grizzlies aren't good. They are good. Even though they are good though, they were very lucky to play the Spurs without Duncan so many times.

Anyone notice, by the way, that the Grizzlies are now threatening to take the 5th seed from Dallas?

Not only that, but they are threatening L.A. to get a home series. With Kobe out, they probably will catch them.

That being said, I totally agree that Rockets fans are always b****ing and if you pay attention fans, your team is also doing well.

Remember, the Grizzlies have never been to the playoffs, have a roster full of high picks due to never winning, and its about time for them.

I think Rocket and Grizzly fans both have a lot to be happy about. this season. I alsoo think we can look forward to having a tough, fun rivalry for years to come in the toughest division in the NBA.

San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans

Yeah, and by that same token, if the grizz played the rockets 82 games in a row they would be 82-0.

Agreed. Even though I hate Pau Gasol and Jason Williams and Mike Miller, we should all team up, fans of both teams, to hate other teams more...like Dallas and LA and Sac and SA.
