This is exactly the point I made after the Minnesota game. (which wasn't on national TV, oddly...) The Rockets GET UP for the really big games. If they're at home, they'll most likely win, or the game will be close. They have trouble on the road, but not because they don't play hard or well... sometimes the other team is just better (see Spurs and Dallas games). Regardless... I'll be MUCH more comfortable watching them give it their all in the playoffs, where they'll always be playing a BIG GAME... rather than suffering by having to watch them struggle against teams like the Sonics, Hawks, Celtics, or Heat.
They lost the Lakers game. Played some ugly jungleball in the waning seconds of a tight contest. They're not good or poised enough to choose games.
you beat me to it. They have lost a couple big games on National Tv, IIRC. This team is being introduced into a new system, and if them making the playoffs is the inagural (sp) season with JVG then I will take that. Perhaps better places next season.
I could care less as long as my boys are winning. Thankfully all the playoff games will be nationally televised.
True... but, as I said before, they've ALWAYS been competitive in these games, and they basically could have gone either way. Also, you can just tell that the effort and intensity is hyped up to a level far greater than that of a Hawks or Sonics game (which aren't less important in the standings). Bottom line... this team will ALWAYS play it close on national TV, and more often than not, they'll win. I like that... especially going into the playoffs. Check again... it was a Friday night ESPN game.
remember back when the rockets had that nbc curse in the later 90s when we could not win any game that was on nat tv? we'd win any other game but never on sundays on nbc. funny how things have slightly changed in the other way now
im surprised the rockets are even on national television since we didnt make the play-offs in three years.
no kidding, that is why I am so excited about the playoffs, I wonder if SF can shine in the spotlight. Him and Yao contributing 50+ points a night would be SWEET!!
This is a game the Rox would have found a way to LOSE last year. In its own way, this win was more important than Minny or Dallas. Grinding out ugly wins, when little is going right, is the mark of a becoming a winner. Go Rox. And I'll be there for the Griz game on Saturday D R
Well if some god damn people would show up to the game..maybe they would see it as a bigger game. Hate to beat a dead horse but damn....The energy level in the crowd is pathetic. If you have afull house that is going crazy..chances are you will feed off their energy.... Yes the rockets play bad and its not the fans fault, but better fans would help
Excuse my ignorance on American geography etc, but isn't Houston one of the biggest cities in the States??? You think that the arena would be full, I'd love to have the chance to be able to go to all the home games I could afford
