Anyone suffering upload speed problems with Roadrunner (Houston, specifically) lately? I tested my speeds on DSLReports.com and had no problems but I've been experiencing some weird issues lately and have talked to at least two or three others having the same problems. For example, when I attempt to upload files to the internet via FTP, it will start fast but progressively get slower and slower until it is down around 3kbps. One file is up near 25Kbps, but the more files I upload at once, the slower it gets. It should NEVER be this slow and hasn't up until recently. I also notice that when I run a traceroute to just about any address, my tracer is unable to identify the servers in between me and the address entered. That is extremely strange as well. The people I've spoken to who have experienced similar problems say theirs began around the time Roadrunner implemented their sped up service for existing customers. That sounds about right for me as well. Anyone else???
This guy's had a LOT of problems with Roadrunner. Maybe he can help. Sorry, that was lame...but I couldn't resist
I talked to RoadRunner and explained the problems. I even ran through traceroute times and found that a coupel are RIDICULOUS. One server on AOL's Data Transit network had three posted times of over 125 milleseconds, which is really really high. If anyone else is experiencing this, it would be a good thing to report to them so they know multiple people are having the problem.
Its my fault. My fault and Paris Hilton's. Nah...just kidding....I did a lot of media downloads this weekend and didnt notice too many problems. But most of mine were done in the wee hours of the morning / late late evening. When were you downloading, Jeff?
Download speed isn't the issue. That has been blazing. It is the UPLOAD speed that has been the problem. It started late last week and has continued.
I have RR and noticed that my Bit Torrent downloads have been slow, yet my upload is high, really really odd. I expirenced the same problem with the uploads awhile back, but havent noticed much problems, I thought it was my wireless connection to my router.
I found a site...here are my results: Your download speed : 2855087 bps, or 2855 kbps. A 348.5 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 366054 bps, or 366 kbps.

Ah, RR is so much better than DSL for me. 2.885 Mbps (369.23 KBps) I don't upload much, Jeff, but I did notice that the last time I tried to send someone a file over one of my IM services - AIM I think - it was an unbearably slow transfer. Though when they sent one to me, the download was quick as usual.
I have Roadrunner (actually Earthlink, but they are the same in Houston that I am aware of) and I'm getting pretty good results. 2.918 Mbps (373.51 KBps) I tried uploading 4 files via FTP and had about 40 KB per second. I also tested with 8 files and one file of various sizes, and it's about the same. B
My uploads to Smegs ftp server have been running 45KB/s lately. The problem I have been having lately..is that from time to time the DNS drops off and I cant access any sites...and then a few minutes later...the whole connection drops. I think they are doing some work in this area on their networks...cause for the longest time I would keep the same IP...in the last month...not only has my IP changed(last octet of the IP address)...but the network they are on has changes a couple of time.(first three octets of IP address).....it isnt unusual for your IP address to change...but for the entire netwrok address to change measn they have been reconfiguring networks. You might want to bring this to their attention....when my connection went down for three days, they claimed to not have any problems in this area and informed me that a tech would have to come out and check my location...but funny enough....soon after I got off the phone with em on the second day.....it miraculously came back up with the totally new IP.....no tech needed out here. I think they either had a problem and were not admitting it...or the network technicians were working on the network and didnt inform tech support. btw.. Im also on Earthlinks broadband service(RR lines) edit: my results from the McAfee speedtest File Size: 600.005 KB Time Elapsed: 1.949 seconds 2.405 Mbps(307.85 KBps)
btw rHEAD... the dns server ips for this area are 206.69.188.185 206.69.188.186 206.69.188.187 and the gateway varies depending on which network you are connected to. You getting the cable hookup yet?
