It’s true to a certain degree, but they still scored a ton and on a night like that it’s kind of foolish to say that. I’d say it was attacking and making shots with some luck in their misses and some good defense in the last minute or 2. Some great hustle plays too, but would’ve been better had he said that some guys really came through defensively and that they have to keep that up for the whole game and not just a few minutes.
Down 10 with less than 4 minutes to go and needing stops to win, I'd say the defense stepped up enough for a comeback. Out of context though, it is a pretty laughable quote.
True, but they were down 10 because they didn't play any defense ....would be nice if they played it from the start. DD
It wasn't just defense. Give the Wizards some damn credit, they were hitting Kobe turnarounds from the mid-post. Amazing that they could be so insanely hot, and that we could still win.
Imagine it's true what he said and the opponent scores 160 points. Somebody dont know how to coach defense and needs to be fired.
"Defense in the last couple of minutes.........aaaaaaaaaaand Beal missing a free throw or two..........aaaaaaaaaand Capela not getting called for the five-step travel on the dunk......" By itself, "defense for the win" makes you wonder how quickly you soak up the ability to spin. One night in DC is all it takes?
Honestly. . . . situational defense. . .getting a stop when they need one maybe more as important as playing defense all game Too many games we needed stops . . . in an overall good defensive game . . ..where we didn't get them and we lost Sure if they can put the clamps on for 4 minutes or a quarter. . . . that means they can do it all game long but that said .. . i am happy for that 4 minutes or a quarter if it comes when it counts most Rocket River
Defense was key to the win ... Uh, didn't we set some record for most points allowed in a regulation win? LOL.
My bad, we merely tied the record: https://www.landofbasketball.com/statistics/highest_scoring_games.htm
