The Jump: Russell Westbrook has been perfect for the Rockets so far

I'm going to type something I never thought I'd type in a million years as a Rockets fan

God damn I love Russell Westbrook

 

I’m not explaining myself correctly I think.

I’m not saying there’s no such thing as too fast. Their obviously is, as too fast induced turnovers from playing sloppy.

Basketball has to be measured with limits. Obviously if we throw hail Mary’s every play, we won’t be more efficient. However, we CAN say (yes, empirically so) that as you approach a limit, Increased pace benefits the more efficient team.

If you think in algebraic terms, reaching a consensus on any type of efficiency is impossible. Sort of explains a lot of the debate here actually.

 

Especially when that change of scenery gets you far away from Billy Donovan. No idea why that dude still has a job at this level.

As for the video, my favorite part is when Rachel Whatshername points out that the Rockets are "plantooning" Westbrook.

The Jump is a terrible show. Rachel is insufferable and Scotty is the dumbest expert I've ever heard. The rest of the "talent" are Lakerfans, Lebron nephews, and/or Kobestans.

 

If we win the championship this year, it will just prove that Presti threw away a 10 year dynasty.

RJ was not entertained last night. Rachel believes that any questions about the fit with Russ have been answered offensively. The 2 teams have championships in without having a top 10 defense were also briefly discussed.

 

I personally think Harden has experimented enough with his pace to know himself. I think he knows how much to increase his pace before he becomes a walking turnover. I think Westbrook probably knows this as well. I think both often play a little afraid of turnovers at times, but mostly they're playing the style that's made them MVPs.

I can't buy into 'faster is always better' because I've seen what that looks like from both players. They become turnover machines. I think this is all about finding balance in themselves and playing at that optimal pace, not some outsiders opinion version.

 

I used to be the biggest hater of Westbrook, even on this board. Had tons of stats to back up his terrible defense (still bad, but >>> Current CP3) had a bunch of stats showing the amount of uncontested rebounds he gets, his stats in the clutch, blah blah blah. And while I still think it was all valid criticisms at the time, he clearly didn't have the talent needed to thrive in OKC. His talent is insane, he's still the freakiest athlete at the guard position in the league, and he truly doesn't give up until that final buzzer sounds. It's funny how long we've gone without a true bulldog, that we thought PJ Tucker was one. LOL. A bad dude PJ is, but he can't make winning plays with his dog mentality like Westbrook can.

Adding Westbrook gives a feeling that PJ is expendable. I wouldn't be opposed to moving him or Gordon & pieces for a legit 4 like Sabonis
