they don't play basketball in the innercity. Basketball is a suburban game played by white suburbia.

there is a court near downtown, on waugh off memorial. that is kinda montrose-y

I'm actually interested in this too. I've been playing (poorly) the last couple weekends with other unskilled players. It's fun, but it's difficult to find good places to play.

I have a policy: Only play basketball against musicians and lesbians. It's good for your self-esteem.

Any other places besides the one Kam suggested?

I don't know, but I'm down for playing there tomorrow afternoon if anyone wants to come out.

We got out there around dark last Saturday, turned on the lights for the 10 r****ds who didn't realize there were lights, then they promptly left after their game was over.

    Probably scared. :D

    Let's do it though.

Hey RM95 - you're talking about the park behind the YWCA, right?

We were out there playing last Saturday around 11:30AM.

I wouldnt even try and play against the Comets. Those horses would run me over.

If you're willing to cross into the 3rd Ward, there's one on Almeda just north of Wheeler next to a school. I don't see it used much actually. Nice trees around it. A pretty nice set-up too at MacGregor Park with more people.

I don't get how you guys have so much trouble finding decent courts in the city. I was only in Houston for the summer, and my roommates and I had like 4 good outdoor courts and 2 good indoor courts to play at within 10-15 minutes of our apartment.

Many years ago I used to play at the covered courts on Hammerly, and if they were full we would go right down the street to Spring Woods high school's outdoor courts.

Also on the Northwest side of town there are nice covered courts on Frick road.

Might want to pick another court - they lock these up around 1PM. You could jump the fence, but you could also get a ticket for trespassing.

My group (which includes thadeus) will be at the YWCA on Waugh (near Memorial) at noon tomorrow. All musicians and other
