I felt your post really worth rereading after I watched our last 4 games especially against Sonics and /Lakers. I have to accept our Perimeter D is really our achilles heel! Two main reasons: * JVG's bball D Philosophy has deadly limitations on perimeter defense(just try to keep opponents away from the paint, but never adopt effective measure on perimeter D) * There is a big hole in our poor defense rotations!
I agree with you in that it is happening, but last night is a little different, in that the Lakers play the inside outside game because of Shaq. So you almost expect they are going to get open looks at three.
I'm more worried about pick and roll defense...simply atrocious. The Rockets overall defense since the all star break has been extremely porous, with little improvement in the offense...
Why stop just there...we have many achilles heels... Our Achilles Heel(s) 1) 3 Point Defense 2) Fast Break Scoring 3) Scoring Against a Zone 4) 'Shot Clock' Beating Shots ...care to add any others...
5) Fronting defense on Yao 6) High Turnovers 7) Low Assists 8) Time-out management and much much more!
well 3s killed us alone in the 4 qtr against the lakers i can remember 1 by rush,2 by walton, 1 by fisher and 1 by payton they could have been more by those were all in the last 6 mins or so when the lakers made their run thats 15pts right there on poor close-outs and rotations. but i feel the way jvg that this will be addressed soon and i expect us not to be that low next year in 3pt fg defense
