Westbrook has more go-ahead field goals In the final minute of a game the past 3 seasons than anyone else in the NBA I bet his efficiency in clutch time is absolute sh*t tho
yeah, and also Clutch points means it's a close game, right. I don't think Warriors had many games that qualified relative to the league throughout much of the last 5 years.
Westbrook’s efficiency in clutch time last season... 35% from the field and 19% from 3 so yeah, his efficiency is absolute trash, but when it comes to game winners, he hits a lot of them
Points is always a measure that can't be put on its own, I think we all know that. Taking a lot of shots in close games will give you a lot of points even if you shoot poorly, that doesn't mean you are clutch. Similarly if you take so many clutch shots, you have to make some, and the more you tale, the more you make, so that will get you a good amount of highlights of hitting shots in clutch moments. I wouldn't declare Westbrook anti-clutch, but I don't think it's a significant factor to mention that he can score a lot of points down the stretch. His efficiency and his team offensive efficiency (as we are talking clutch offense) in those situations vs other teams would be the more important thing to examine.
Last season might be a poorer sample since he shot very poorly in general last season. I wonder what it was the season before.
the year before it was 41% from the field and 21% from 3 during the regular season...27% from the field and 25% from 3 during the playoffs
I mean if you take all the shots some of them are gonna be game winners right? Every dog has his day and a broken clock is right twice a day and all that. If he was so clutch he would have won a playoff series by himself by now lol. I only see WB as a mild upgrade over the walking corpse of Cp3. He shouldn't be taking the last shot on our team, it should Harden or EG.
Well, the 3PT shot is not his friend in the clutch, though anecdotally I remember him taking a lot in those situations, so he might need to tone that down. Yea, guess he's still pretty poor overall, though 41% FG isn't terrible if it wasn't combined with awful 3PT%. Maybe if I have the time I'll look into the team performance on offense in those moments.
