Lol... I guess now that the State Department has been thinned out so much, they're going to rely on the NBA to conduct foreign policy.

As they should. I don't think people are even close to realizing how big a precedent the NBAs action will set. It is far, far bigger than just their potential BRI.

If an entity as huge and visible as the NBA can be openly cucked by communism, any restraint China has shown will be removed.

The United States government doesn't need to be telling a private entity how to operate. Adam Silver is handling this quite well in my opinion. He's being respectful towards China while maintaining American foundational standards. I think he's putting the responsibility of making the right decision for Chinese people on their government.

That being said, I'm proud that the US government is backing free speech. But they're being hypocritical if they want to force the NBA to say certain things. Adam Silver has the right to free speech too.

They've been in Silver's ear since before the second statement. (as I said earlier) Xi and his minions cannot be allowed to be the proverbial "bull in a China shop"....attempting to run roughshod over American institutions...while also trying to manipulate U.S. citizens. This is about protecting our way of life. You give them an inch and they will take 100 miles. It goes to the heart of the matter. Let's face it, we've been at war in some shape or form with China for many years.

If only they had balls of steel themselves to tackle on the Hong Kong issue. But I guess it's much easier to force someone else to do this "foreign policy" thingy than doing it yourself.

They are actually legislating a law that would allow the US government to sanction HK government officials.

I appreciate the governmental support - but this is overstepping....

Its free enterprise... our gov't shouldnt be stepping in telling a private company what to do in this matter...

Nothing like a common enemy to make us forget about how much we hate each other.

That said... wonderful statement from Congress. I hope to see more bipartisan work to preserve our integrity as a country against foreign countries that want to bully. I am proud of the people standing up.
