If Yao Ming tweeted a pic for succession, it'd be hilarious. I also wouldn't expect the US to ban the CBA in the states. It's called being a grown adult.

    Nailed it, great post:

"Plus of course, as the guy knows, if Yao says California should be independent from America, Yao would immediately become public enemy #1 and be banned from ever coming back to America and the NBA would ban Chinese players forever!!!!! Oh wait, nevermind, none of that would happen cause no one would really care.

So when the dude says "Do you guys see how absurd this is?" incredulously, the answer is certainly YES. It's pretty absurd of China."

But that's not even accurate comparison. It's more like if a GM of one of the CBA league teams supporting a fictous freedom movement in Puerto Rico.

Now let's say Puerto Rico was going to introduce a bill that made the ability to extradite them to America that question the President or American government among other things. Which lead to protest, clashes with riot police, and then off branches of riots.
Then after that the protesters called for the extradition bill to be pulled before being implemented, more freedoms which involves more independence from America yet still American soil, Governor to step down for the performance of the whole matter, police brutality investigation on some of the questionable protest clashes, and stop referring to the protest as riots. Do you think anyone would have a problem with that? Do you think anyone in America would have a problem with that? Nope.

Klay Thompson spoke out about the handling of our Government cold shoulder comment about the Bahamas and did you see our Government loss their minds and declare that the GS Warriors fire Klay? Nope.

And honestly if Puerto Rico wanted independence I think the majority of Americans would first be confused that we own Puerto Rico, then it's citizens wouldn't care. Our government is a different bowl of nope.

Nah for the sake of business and prosperity a company should do it’s best to maintain peace and cordial relations. Knowing how sensitive political topics are in light of this protest one should exercise restraint and thought instead of a guns blazing gung ho attitude in terms of expressing your opinions. Morey is a part of this organization in a highly lucrative business relationship with China. It’s only stupid and irresponsible not to mention arrogant to individually publicly announce his views on a matter that has nothing to do with him. Like it or not countries will be countries. Everyone loves their country. We do too. Who’s good who’s bad? Whos evil who’s just? Blah blah blah we all sinners lmao

The "bottom line" is according to the Sino-British Joint Declaration, Hong Kong is to remain as it has been until 2047. China is breaking that agreement. He's right, China has been bullied and pushed around the last few hundred years. But that doesn't give them the right to break agreements just because they have recently become more powerful. China is now doing what they claim was wrongly done to them in the past.

Some Chinese tourists do not represent the level headed and smart Chinese.

Many act like they just got out of their home basement, they dun know the values of other countries.

Every country got their introverts.....lelz. Generalisation does not help us here.

The original poster may indeed feel honestly what he expressed. He is right that this is not just a simple matter of free speech for Morey. However, the original poster is overall just wrong. However, It Is a just a slick public relations tactic to equate Morey's comments with advocating racism or advocating for a repeat of the disgraceful humiliation of China in the past by Western powers, though it is true that some of the American elite might wish such humiliation again Morey did not advocate that..

What is happening is that the Chinese citizens in the HK region are calling for more civil rights than currently allowed by the CCP elite and since it is feared that this might be attractive to other Chinese citizens in other parts of the country it is thus directly threatening to the ruling CCP, who like their counterpart American elite, are quite happy with their privileges.

This whole affair would be analogous to a Chinese businessman voicing support for an ongoing protest in California struggling for more labor rights which seem like it could spark similar actions in the rest of the US. Then the American elite and some individuals like the original posters get outraged and claiming that the California protestors are a bunch of UnAmerican communists and that therefore for a Chinese businessman to voice for their demands for more labor rights is a line that cannot be crossed.

Trump made a stupid move, but there were compliance requirements (ways out of the agreement) with Iran. There are no such legal deviations in the Joint Declaration. If China feels they can change it for no legal reason, then the British have the same right to change the declaration however they choose, or just keep Hong Kong. That is why it is best for everyone to comply. What Trump has done will hurt the USA, but these agreements are legally very different things.

The NBA is and American organization. They'd better recognize that fact. If it bothers them, then get lost!
