I don't know about Colorado but if a chick was raped by say . . .someone in the Corp at A&M and reported it . . and got national press The DEATH THREATS WOULD POUR IN to her home Sometimes it easier in numbers Rocket River
Well, you must know some advanced search methods because I only know how to search by number of views, number of posts, thread starter, etc. That thread was one that didn't have many posts nor many views and considering that my user name is right in the middle of the alphabet, I still don't see how it could be found that fast. Nonetheless, why do you think that my linking to Lil Pun's post was unnecessary? He asked why would the black FSU players get upset at Bowden calling them "boys"? I agreed with drapg that Bowden didn't mean anything racial by it but was trying to point out that maybe they were sensitive about those things and Lil Pun's thread was the first that came to my mind. I am sorry for bringing it up and I am sorry for being such an evil person and hypocrite (if you and pgabriel and anyone else feels that way). I am sure that I am the only person out of 15,000+ members here that has ever said something hypocritical. Damn, maybe I should stop posting here if every ****ing time I post something, someone like a pgabriel is going to use an old post against me.
As far as Bowden's comments go, my last girlfriend was raped TWICE. The one person she told after the first one called her a liar. She'd only told extremely close friends and me after the second one (it was before we were together) if for no other reason than it would be so destructive to her family. She's lived a life of low self-esteem that has caused destructive behavior to herself. This is normal in rape victims. To those insensitive asses like Bowden, Barnett, or those who defend them, I hope and pray the women in their lives don't go through this. Not only is it something that no one should ever have to go through, I'd hate for them to have to talk to insensitive jerks about it.
And the chip on shoulder thing, you're the same guy who started a thread to diss Jennifer Lopez. Let me see, American male dissing beautiful woman he has never met. That sounds like chip on shoulderism 101. Or pointing out someone's thread, in another non-related thread, and then calling me out for doing the samething. Hypcrite and Sensative. Be careful Manny to hold on to that chip on your shoulder before your glass house comes tumbling down.
It's not that hard. Takes less than five minutes if you know what you're looking for. I thought your anecdote was irrelevant, honestly. The FSU QB is an idiot if he thought Bowden was being racist by using the word "boys" to address a locker room full of African-Americans and whites. I don't see its relevence here since it doesn't show that Bowden "doesn't know any better". Of course, you're not, but we're not talking about anyone else right now. You brought up another person being too sensitive in a thread he hasn't even posted in, yet you get riled up all the time. If you can't take the heat, you should probably get out of the kitchen. If you're going to dish it out, you better be able to take it.
pgabriel and RM95, You two are right, as always about everything. I don't see the need to post or participate here anymore. Maybe I will finally get some real work done. Had a great time here, but all good things must end sooner or later. For the record, I enjoyed meeting you, RM95, along with everyone else at the Smeg thing. Wish you all the luck with your woman. Take care.
Great, we finally got to the point where the media was actually letting the students here go to class, and now Bowden has to open teh can of worms again. *sigh*
I have had nothing but hatred and deep disregard for Bobby Bowden and FSU ever since the situation with the Darling Brothers.
I used to rout for Bowden asi like FSU over Florida or Miami, but he has worn on me. On the comment in question: 1) It is suprising how stupid he would be to comment on a situation he knew nothing about, and 2) He would say he didn't understand why a rape victim might not immediately report the event. (as others have attested to for various reasons including retailiation and public humilation at best his comments show tremendous ignorance and at worst indifference to the victims) Nomar, did you not see anything wrong or personally incriminating(about his owns attitudes) for what Barnett said some weeks ago? (e.g., she was forced upon the team, she sucked at kicking the ball, so is it a surprise or big deal she might have been raped for what she put her poor teammates through)
oh man... I know you are into clean living ManRam.... but at this point I think you could really use a toke or two...or maybe a drink.. life is too short....relax.
I think the point is that it is insensitive to state that it didn't really happen...He can't assume just because she didn't come out right away that it didn't happen... There are a lot of stats that support the claim that many rapes/abuse cases go un-reported due to the victim being afraid of the publicity, losing their job, etc... If your still confused, may god help you...
