I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could find the answers to a couple of questions:

    1. Who is the current active holder of most consecutive games played in the NBA? not looking for AC Green. I'm talking about a current streak.

    2. Are there any current players that haven't missed a game yet in their NBA careers? (besides rookies)

The reason I pose these questions is that I have been shocked as to how well Yao Ming has held up physically with the rigors of the NBA game combined with his play for the Chinese National team. I know Yao has yet to miss a game (141 game and counting) and wanted to see how he stacked up against other current NBA "ironmen."

Thanks and I hope someone can help me find the answers cuz I'm very curious to know. :)

I have tried google, nbareference.com, nba.com and a few other sites but haven't been able to find the answers I am looking for.

    I'm curious about this, too.

I think you will get better response if you post it in GARM forum. Nobody will complain since this is Yao related. But I'm sure some one will tell you DON'T JINKS IT!!! :)

    Dr Q

BTW, did Francis really said that in your signature? In what context?

yao has thick legs and doesn't really jump alot, so he's not really prone to those twisted ankles and blown acls. if he ever does get injured it'll be like a groin pull or sprained finger or something like that.

i was pretty scared when he hit the deck in the cleveland game but he's a trooper!

Erick Dampier 82 games last year , 59 this year
Derek Fisher 82 games last year 59 this year
Kevin Garnett 82 games last year 60 this year
Pau Gasol - has not missed a game in 3 year career
Antwan Jamison played all 82 games the previous 3 seasons and all of this one (after missing half of his games the first two years)

James Posey played 83 games last year, 60 this year
Michael Redd played 82 games last year 59 this year
Eric Snow played 82 games last year 60 this year
Yao Ming played 82 games last year 59 this year

so Jamison is the leader in consecutive games played followed by Gasol. all the others missed games in the 2001-2002 season except for Yao since he wasn't playing yet

Great point about Yao Ming trying to play the game intelligently and not getting hurt.

This is another reason why Stockton and Malone played so long w/ little injury. They both played the game close to the ground and tried to rely on b-ball smarts rather than athletic ability.

Dr. Q: I thought about posting this in the GARM but since the questions were NBA related I decided to post it here. Didn't want to get b****ed at.

You can read the quote by Francis here bottom of the page.

Outlaw: Thanks for the info. The Gasol info was great. I hadn't thought of him. I can't imagine there many more players if any besides rookies that haven't missed a game yet.

I found a couple of more players that haven't missed any games last year or this year: Darrell Armstrong and Bruce Bowen. I'm sure there are more.

oops missed them. DA also played all 82 in 01-02 so he probably has a longer streak than Gasol. Bowen shouldn't count since he really should be suspended for the Wally kick and Vince undercut.

Well a few of the players listed earlier have missed games. Of the players that outlaw and I listed the ones remaining that still have as long an active streak as Yao are Bruce Bowen, Derek Fisher, Kevin Garnett, James Posey, Micheal Redd, and Antawn Jamison.

It is defenitely a short list. Are there any other players I may have missed?

Yao has certainly been more injury-free than I had imagined when we first drafted him.
