Rockets fans in China furious at Morey for supporting Hong Kong protests

It will be interesting to see what happens.. Will the NBA back his right to free speech/speaking his mind like they said in regards to LeBron/Curry on Trump, or will they burn him because China is a huge money maker?

I can't express how important it is for actual Rocket fans, the ones born and raised as Rocket fans to stand behind Morey at this point.

China has a recent history of attacking any business or person that is prominent in a business that offers a less than glowing opinion of China.

The CCP will not stop complaining and protesting. There is a good chance this ends with Morey fired. China will put pressure on the NBA and will not allow things like the Rockets to play the Sharks or market in China. They may even limit Harden and Addidas.

I also stand with Morey. Tillman is the biggest idiot alive if he does this. Dude can’t wipe his own butt without Morey. Don’t punish a man for saying what’s right,

 

Personally, I think that was pretty brave of Morey. He’s not an idiot. He knows the Rockets unique standing in China.

But he still did it. I can’t really see how Tillman fires him, at least not immediately, but he’s definitely not happy.

Every country and culture is susceptible to it. It’s part of our in group preference bias. But don’t make the assumption that criticism of the CCP is a defense of American nationalism. Someone can criticize Trump and not be a modern democrat.

The last thing an owner of a major professional sports organization should do is throw their GM under the bus. That’s what Tilman did tonight in front of millions.

He’s lost the remainder of the benefit of the doubt I had for him. If the team loses Morey because of this I will be furious.
