The fact that he listed LA and San Antonio as teams Webber should look into is ludicrous....namely San Antonio. I think they have a pretty good PF now, don't they? ------------------ My doctor says I am bipolar. I am going to get a second opinion. I have never had intimate desires for polar bears.
When did Pippen PICK the Blazers? For a guy I loved in college, I don't like Walton as a commentator. I feel guilty.... ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils.
He's funny doing Clipper games but I think NBC doesn't let him say all those goofy stuff so he just comes off sounding awfully stupid. ------------------ ``We need to FOCASS".... Akeem Olajuwon

I hate to say it, but Walton is not bad when he's talking about THE GAME. But when he starts talking about things outside of the action, his foot IMMEDIATELY goes inside his mouth. I wonder where his pen (or keyboard) goes when he puts his thoughts in print? ------------------
Why does anyone listen to Bill Walton? All that weed he smoked in the 70's fried his brain! ------------------
Yeah that was funny: "I see Webber’s situation as similar to Scottie Pippen’s right before Pippen joined the Blazers. Pippen was looking for a team that already had a solid shot at winning the title, upon which he could play a key role." Yeah, he was looking for a team that already had a solid shot, but that team was the Lakers. ------------------ RealGM Gafford Art Artisan Cakes
I like Walton but that article is a piece of ****. Webber on this current Rockets team would be top 4 in the west, and that is better than top 4 in the east. Dallas? Webber on the Rockets would be better than Webber on the Mavs. There wouldn't be enough shots to go around. Stick to Clipper games Bill. ------------------ The Protrolls.com message boards! Wally smoked a little too much ganja and took the Grateful Dead a little too seriousily back when it was fashionable to hire idiots for broadcasting. Unfortunately no one has had the guts to tell him he may have swallowed a dictionary since playing this sport, but that still doesn't make you an expert, nor is it necessary to read and demonstrate your diction with your head up your rearend. ------------------
I tried to resist it, but I just have to comment. I've already taken shots at Walton before, but I just have to take another one. I cannot find any value to this guy - either as a commentator or as a writer...Anything he says that's bad for the Rockets is actually good news in my opinion. His painful struggles to point out the obvious do not instill me with much faith in his abilities to consider more abstract concepts - like where Webber should go. He says Webber is better off not coming to Houston? To me that basically means that Webber can win a championship here. I'm just happy he didnt say Webber should come to Houston... sorry, just couldnt hold it in any longer... ------------------ "I didn't like jr. high when I was there. Rocket River and rocketsfan are both right: Walton is a moron and an idiot! ------------------ I always thought "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm discovered". Now I think "With my talent, it's only a matter of time before I'm found out".
About 5 years ago against Orlando on NBC, Rocks were down 2 or 3 with about 10 seconds left, Walton gives the new Rockets lineup "Olajwon, PF?, Elie, Cassell?, and in the most clueless tone "Raaacassner?", he didnt even know Recasner was in the league or that he had that consistent shot I miss, I think it was Snapper who had to fill him in on Recasner's 3point precision. Its moments like those that make me love Bill Walton, but those same moments take away all his credibility. ------------------ You've got your problems I've got my hash pipe...
Bill Walton isn't an idiot (at least in this case). He's an employee of the National Broadcasting Company. NBC has a list of favorite cities. It does everything it can to promote those cities' teams. The NBA accommodates that bias. Look at how the WNBA was put together and promoted before the Comets upset all their NY-LA plans. Of course NBC has an agenda for Chris Webber. Just like Nike had a list of favorite teams and steered stars like Deion Sanders. Houston is never, ever on any corporation's list of favorites. It's mostly based on: 1. the media is all based in NY and LA 2. who has the most population and Nielsen impact 3. which cities have a certain stereotype that helps sell them to the otherwise useless lumps who live in the hinterlands. Houston will always be behind Dallas on the corporations' lists because of #3. Houston doesn't stand for anything now that the space program is largely dead. Even Orlando and Anaheim are ahead of Houston because of a certain entertainment conglomerate. The only solution: start your own TV network and use it to build up your city's teams, like Ted Turner did. The whole national media has an interest against us getting Webber, or keeping any star any team in this city can develop on its own. Fortunately, the stars' raw greed keeps us in the running, because we do have some very rich people owning teams here. ------------------
Walton is a moron Washington and NY closer to a Championship than houston? They closer to getting to one because they in the east but winning? Dallas and Milwaukee are interesting but Dallas got Juwon . . . . Rocket River ------------------
What are we supposed to do with this moron? Idiots like him really irritate me. Where does he get the idea that Webber will be going to half th cities he listed? We should ignore anything he has to say. ------------------
I think Bill Walton's hilarious because of the stupid things he says. Cmon, there's no way he's actually serious when he says what he says on tv. I really don't care about what any of these writers' opinions are of the Rockets. All I care about is what the Rockets actually do this offseason and how the perform on the court. If they improve like everyone on here thinks they will, then they'll earn the respect. None of these national media guys are going to hop onto the Rockets bandwagon until the Rockets actually become one of the top 8 teams in the Western conference. Also rslay, keep the conspiracy stuff coming man, that always makes for a fun read. ------------------ I refuse to use smiley's in my posts, you'll just have to figure out how serious I am on your own...
