Aside from the trades we've been talking about who do you think are the FA's perfect for a Yao centered team? Personally, I want to us to get Carlos Arroyo. He's a PG full of control and good passing skills. Can shoot and seems a complement to Yao..What do you think guys?
Arroyo is the ideal guy based on your qualifications. I wouldn't mind a player like Damon Jones back with the Rockets, as he is running a very efficient Bucks offense with TJ Ford on the shelf. Another player that seems to be developing into a consistent PG is Rafer Alston. Maybe the guys I mentioned aren't thought of as being starting PGs, but contribution wise these players would be significant players as PGs on the Rockets.
As much as I hate anyone on the Jazz, Arroyo has really been a huge suprise. I wouldn't mind seeing him a Rockets uni, but I'm sure the Jazz are pretty high on him.
How about Bobby Sura? He always does a hell of a job against us. He can pass the ball around, is quick (unlike MJ), and has a decent outside shot (unlike MJ). What are the chances of us picking him up? Is he a free agent after this year?
I've got a strong suspicion that Payton would find something to cry about playing for JVG. He's playing like 6 minutes less per game this season in an offense that doesn't require a PG and he's b****ing about it. I'd love to get him, but I don't see it working out, somehow.
Hmmmm... now that I think about it more... Payton is an excellent defender who can guard two's. You can see where I'm going with this, I'm sure.....
Skip to My Lue? Does he play the PG or SG? Why does it seem that every team but the Rockets have two starting PGs???
I agree. Arroyo would be a great fit! There are a few in the draft that I wouldn't mine getting... Jameer Nelson, Blake Stepp, Ben Gordon, Devin Harris
Hell no, he's old, past his prime, and a whiner. He's playing only 4 minutes less per game this year than last season with the Sonics and he's b****ing about that. If he can find a way to complain about the "Zen" master who has 9 rings, I think he can find ways to whine about the ring-less JVG.
Huh? Are you saying that the better teams in the NBA have quality starting and back-up PGs? What about: Indiana, San Antonio, and Dallas? I wouldn't want Kenny Anderson, Anthony Johnson, Charlie Ward, Jason Hart, Travis Best, or Marquis Daniels starting at the point on my team.
I think one guy worth taking a good look at is Steve Blake of the wizards. He's done pretty good job for a young guy when given the chance to play. He's tall, team oriented and can shoot pretty good. Since Arenas is locked up for a long time at the pg spot he could be available. I could see us doing a trade with the wiz this summer, getting Blake, one of their young bigs (ET?, JJ? ) perhaps...
He Plays the 1. He is usually backing up Wade and Starting if Wade is injured. took a long time to get out of the street ball mode and into NBA mode which he finally did and the heat gave him a chance and he is proving himself. He can hit the open 3's as well. Even Arroyo's backup Raul Lopez is damn good but he wad drafted last year in the first round so he has another year of tenure before we could get him. We just need a fundementally sound Point Gaurd if we wan to move Steve to the 2
