He had a chance to shine but with his youthful mentality he chose the kind of life he is in now, I really wish that he could work something out wit CD and the entire Rockets, but i guess it got in to the point of no return. I hope someday we will not regret it!

Let's resign Eddie with John Lucas as Assistant

Considering he was depressed and drug and /or alcohol ridden Eddie still showed at times a lot of the things we need and might not yet git in free agency. As we get better we have relatively little chance of getting this type of talent in the draft.

Pay Eddie the minimum. Pay Lucas as much or more to be a mentor to Eddie . Lucas might be able to show Francis a thing or two, also.

This is dependent of course on how Eddie does in rehab and how the guys and staff feel about Eddie. I saw that Lucas has paid Eddie's bond and seems to be taking him on as a project.

If we don't do it. I am predicting that Eddie gets it together and helps Rudy T return to glory with another team.

Eddie is going to have at least one more big time chance in the League. Why not let it be with the Rockets? We certainly paid enough for him. With JVG's 8 man rotation why not have some great potential on the bench?

LOL. You're kidding right? Eddie blew his chance not once, but twice. He might return the to glory leading the Prisoners team as they beat the guards, that's about it.

Honestly though thumbs, you missed my point. I'm not blaming the city... it's not like the city of Houston has cornered the market on "bad people". However, he's already got real problems here. If he wants to get his life in order and get a fresh start, it won't be here. He's not going to come back.

February 1, 2004 -- HOUSTON — The decision to move Eddie Griffin to the Betty Ford Clinic in California was made to deal with the Net forward's alcoholism — but also to get him out of Houston, where he had fallen into disfavor with "some very bad individuals," according to numerous sources familiar with Griffin's situation.

"Just say it would be better for him to get out of Houston, some people are looking for him. Leave it at that," one source insisted, claiming the matter involved Griffin's relationship with a woman.

Obviuously I agree. Consider Eddie for another chance if Johnm Lucas thinks so and will help. Lucas rehabbed, maybe Eddie can, too.

See my other soon to be merged (I hope) thread.

EG is like an afterschool special. He didn't get along with his cliquish teammates (his words), so he does drugs and falls in with the wrong crowd.

    It's not a dream, Eddie. It's not a dream. :(

Don't EVER mention John Lucas. That cokehead single-handedly virtually destroyed the Rockets. When he went down, he nearly took this entire franchise with him. It took them nearly a DECADE to recover from that debacle.

The drafting of yet another loser (Griffin) in and of itself is not that bad - it's that they threw away 3 1st round picks in the process. Those picks, if used correctly, could have enabled them to solve their SF forward problem or even yielded a backup PG. Instead, they did what the Rangers did 3 years ago when they overpaid for Alex Rodreguez - they made a bad stupid decision.

And just like the Rangers, they compounded that bad decision by pretending for 3 years that everyone else was wrong while they were in the right. Now both teams look like the incompetent fools they truly are. And you want them to go back down that rabbit hole with EG all over again?

The true hit will come when their deficiencies on the front line cost them a playoff berth this year.
