I like the Franchise. Steve is a good guy who deserves more praise than scorn. However, the amount of scorn he deserves would only be about his play. Up to this point, the fans have been very truculent and adamant upon disposing of steve. I understand this sentiment but I admonish those who have great contempt for him. He's a man and deserves more respect than that. Sometimes as fans we are too demanding like Romans and their Gladiators. Sometimes we don't see that these guys are humans. We expect them to be machines providing maximum output for us. I think we should just calm down and be civil about it. It's ridiculous if you think about it. I really like Steve ever since his rookie season, but I do question whether is good for this team. so far, he's been up and down this year. I don't think the Rockets are going to trade him. Perhaps they'll give him one more year and if that doesn't work he may be out by all star break next year. If he does go, I think he'll be going for a star player like allen, iverson. I also think Mo taylor will also be in the mix. Don't be surprised to see Cato or maybe even Jim Jackson also. I just hope Stevie shapes up and disciplines his game. I also think JVG should change the game to make it open and quicker and design plays that allows easy shots. ,
I'm a big time Steve fan too, he's my favourite Rockets player, but.............. At the moment he is not playing with any heart and he doesnt want to be on the court, atleast with this team. I dont know if he hates Van Gundy, the team, or he is just p!ssed off because he is playing so badly, but his attitude stinks. You'd think someone playing as poorly as him would eat humble pie by now, but he is still cockly. Anyway, thats beside the point. I am seriously concerned for Steve and am reluctantly doubting that him playing for us is in anyone's best interests. What's sad is you just know if he was to ever be traded he would probably have the motivation within him to do exactly what WE wanted him to do for us, except he will be at another club and doing it against us. In relation to what you said about the Players being human, I agree. However, Steve's career, or anyones career is about performance and results. He is getting paid millions of dollar to achieve and to go out there and play the best he can and it seems pretty obvious taht he isnt doing that. I dont care as much if he goes uot there, plays his guts out and only score 8 point and has 4 assists, what I do care about is if he goes out there and puts in this lame half @ssed effort and doesnt even try. I'm not saying that the situation is entirely Steve's fault, I think Van Gundy has a lot to answer to, but Steves attitude and heart is all him and no one can take that away from him, so he is to blame for that. Van Gundy might be the coach therefore the man in charge, but at the moment all I see is two kids on the schoolground trying to bully the other in into submission and the big loser out of all of it is the team. Its no wonder there is no cohesion on the court because everyone out there is brought down to that level and that mentality of us (SF's gang) and them (Van Gundy's gang).
Alright, Steve is having a bad season, and his poor decision making is being exposed more than ever, but to claim his attitude stinks is ridiculous. Last week it was reported that he had an extra shooting secession with just him and JVG. That doesn't sound like hate, and you and other guys who claim he isn't trying hard are just making ridiculous baseless claims.
Hey like I said, SF is my favourite player and I would LOVE to be proved wrong, I hate the position he is in at the moment. I didn't realise the whole shootaround thing with JVG and am happy to eat humble pie on that. I am just basing my opinion on what I have seen from him on the court, what's out there in the media and what I am hearing in here. We are all getting our info from the same sources so to assume you are right and everyone else is wrong is a little ignorant, either way, the only person who knows for sure is Steve and all we can do is put our thoughts out into the open and see what we think fits.
Sure, the guy can't hit a shot lately, but even the biggest Steve haters wouldn't dare question his heart. The guy hustles more than anyone on the team and puts his body on the line more than anyone. Try watching some Rockets games.
