I will not be severely disappointed. This thread is about the ceiling of Yordan's potential. That's where I see the ceiling of his potential. I will not be severely disappointed if he doesn't win multiple Triple Crowns.

You will be severely disappointed at how not severely disappointed I'll be.

Boston won the AL by 1 game over Detroit and Minny. He was not the unanimous MVP though, 1 of the 20 voters voted for Minny OF Cesar Tovar, who had a .691 OPS that year.

Sorry....but considering the last multiple triple crown winner was arguably the greatest hitter to play the game (Ted Williams) and that was 70+ years ago against lesser competition, Alvarez does not have a ceiling of multiple triple crowns.

    Yeah....no.

Yordan is amazing, but to say he should keep doing what he's been doing for the last couple of weeks is not sound.

It is completely unsustainable for pitchers to keep nibbling and hoping ump or Alvarez continue to bail them out. Even then, last two weeks, Alvarez has been walking a lot and hitting a homer once every 13 ABs. Pitchers will crack before Alvarez.

And if I'm wrong, Astros still have a good power hitter that gets on base in Alvarez instead of amazing hitter that hits for power, hits for average, and gets on base.

Is it just me, or is this offense pretty much indefensible when Alvarez has it going well?

I think it is indefensible, period. If you consider that it has only been fully healthy for a handful of games and it is doing what it is doing. Wow!

Lengthening the bottom of the lineup with a high comtact masher helps to set the deck for the top half of the lineup, littered with great hitters and led by a 5 took superstar, Springer. There's no safe navigation when Yordan is right

As a temporary adjustment, I'd like to see Alvarez sell out to the outside corner early in the count. I've been watching his every game and it seems every pitcher has the strategy of nibbling the outer 3rd early for a called strike. No one has busted him inside early (amazing to me) to set up the lower outside quadrant. Why not sell out for it early?

Let the umpires lay down the law with regard to Yordan's plate discipline, his reputation/book...He'll get all those calls back and more.

How many more years does the team control Alvarez (when is he a FA)?

He is on track to be a free agent after the 2025 season.

So, this board will start lamenting his eventual signing by the Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers ("they're going to get him back at all costs... the one that got away") sometime around next year? Next month? Tonight??
