Our problem is perimeter defense if anything at all.

We have the number one defense because we take away the inside shots and nothing easy is ever given.

But we have horrendous perimeter defense.

Teams with good outside shooters always beat us because JVG has us all packed into the paint.

That works against some teams, but teams that have the ability to drive and kick, or play inside-out will always kill us.

We should play the opponents perimeter players harder and closer, and we should also have a hand in their face instead of just packing in the paint.

JVG's defensive philosophy is just to pack the paint and hope no one figures out his plan.

Dallas and Sacramento always play drive and kick and also inside and out, so we will never beat them.

Sonics play drive and kick it out and we sure as he!! can't beat them.

Spurs play inside-out all the time.

    Where does that leave us?
We have a team that just takes away lay ups and dunks and thats it. We don't pressure the perimeter players enough and we step back a few feet to prevent the drive. In doing so, we let them shoot perimeter shots and hope that they don't make them.

We should put pressure on perimeter players equally or utilize a zone defense in situations.

    My $1-.98=$.02

We don't PACK IT IN.....the other teams guards get by our PG any time they want.

They drive in and dish out for a wide open look.

Our perimeter defense is awful.....but our interiour defense is just fine.

Yao is shutting down the middle for the most part...it is our lazy PG who can not stay in front of his man.

I didn't want to name names, but I thought it was more of a coaching philosophy instead of the actual players defensive ways.
