Watson can run even though nobody really wants him to.

This is just what I’d expect from the Texans. Like the idea of trade JD but the execution was awful. They played the whole thing wrong and clearly looked to just dump him. They couldn’t even manage a first for him just laughable. Now the Tunsil trade again a move I like but two 1st and a 2nd?! So obviously they do not trust that they can develop OL so they had to traded for one. Tunsil is good but unlike K Mack he is not great. These were just poorly executed moves by hey Texans are going to Texans.

WTF I forgot they gave up conditional 3rd for a 3rd down back! That Clowney trade is far worse than I thought. This is just terrible

Should get 3rd-4ths for Kareem and Matthieu, honestly those picks don’t matter to me even if we overpaid for Duke and the ridiculous return for Clowney. Not having 1st next two years and a 2nd in 21 hurts. Hopefully get a gm that can scout well

Apparently you feel that people are only entitled to their own opinions when they agree with yours. Not everyone thinks that every action of the team must be spun in the worst possible light.

Fandom? Homerism? No objective person would view what I posted as either of these.

Should be a good year for the texans if your giving time in the pocket for Watson, adding a good RB in Johnson to get some open lanes he never had for the Browns. Also Stills could be a gem in the rough for houston, watson could find his new goto guy down town. GLT.

It feels like we overpaid the same way a team trying to make one last push for a championship would.

The problem is the Texans aren't one last push away from a championship. They're one last push away from making the divisional round.

Comment from Deadspin that feels far too true.

It feels like this was the thought process:

O’Brien: We’ve gotta move Clowney. But I’ve gotta get something good in return.

(Dolphins and Texans negotiate possible deal)

O’Brien: Laramy Tunsil AND Kenny Stills. This is great, I’m a hero.

Clowney: No ******* way I’m going to Miami.

O’Brien: Damn! We can’t let this deal for Laramy Tunsil and Kenny Stills die. I’ll do anything.

    Someone Else: What about Clowney?

O’Brien: Christ, who cares. Get rid of him. I’m all about Tunsil and Stills

Barnwell: Bill O'Brien wants the Patriot Way. His trades go against it

If it doesn't work out over the next two seasons, I'm not sure there's a way back for O'Brien. The Texans will be missing years of young talent, given that they'll have made just one first-round pick over a four-year span between 2018 and 2021. The Texans will have granted O'Brien his quarterback, his character coach, and finally, his power. Now, after one stunning day of trades and a series of divergences from Belichick's decision-making, O'Brien will need to prove that he can win a Super Bowl the Texans Way.

If Watson is the leading runner on this team for the 19-20 season, start booking a banquet hall for the 'Bill O'Brien's Fired!' party.

They need a back. Hyde isn't likely to be it, or he wouldn't have been nearly cut from his old team. The rooks showed no signs in preseason that they can do it.

Look on the bright side. We should see a lot less running on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 8 now.

Worst day in the history of the franchise and will be remembered as one of the dumbest days that has ever happened in the NFL

Are we a better team than we were the day before? Ya I think we are. Tunsil is a big time upgrade at the biggest position of need and think Stills is an underrated addition.

With that said, yesterday was probably the biggest fleecing of assets I have ever seen. Just a complete lack of foresight and planning by this front office.

I was about to say we did a Hercshel Walker trade, but I didn't realize what Minnesota gave up. That was an insane amount of picks.

    • Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1990
    • Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1990
    • Minnesota's 6th round pick in 1990
    • Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1991 (conditional on cutting Solomon)
    • Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1991 (conditional on cutting Howard)
    • Minnesota's 1st round pick in 1992 (conditional on cutting Holt)
    • Minnesota's 2nd round pick in 1992 (conditional on cutting Nelson)
    • Minnesota's 3rd round pick in 1992 (conditional on cutting Stewart)

Overpaid for the guys they brought in and sold low on their own.

Agree. Literally paid Seattle to take Clowney. And then made trades for a bunch of players that were going to get cut, except Tunsil.
